Like so many issues in pensions there is no perfect answer to the question: ‘What powers should a trustee board delegate?’ As defined benefit pension schemes close to accrual and mature more rapidly, it can be argued that trustees should delegate everything that gets in the way of focusing effectively on long-term issues.
