Mark Millar, superhero creative consultant at Fox and award-winning comic-book author, has suggested that he won't oversaturate the X-Men films with Wolverine.
Millar gave praise to James Mangold's new standalone Logan-movie, explaining "when I got this job they had started shooting a couple of weeks, but the screenplay to The Wolverine is really, really terrific. I'm really, really delighted with it. Obviously the casting has all been really good, the director is brilliant."
Having written multiple X-Men and (standalone) Wolverine comic books, Millar has full confidence in the character, "I don't think it detracts having individual Wolverine adventures from the X-Men. He's like a lone wolf character, he disappears and does his own thing sometimes and then he comes back and hangs out at the mansion, so it does feel quite natural for him to be in these movies."
However, Millar did warn against an overabundance of Wolverine in the X-Men universe, "you don't want to have him out there all the time, because I think if you've got him in X-Men and Wolverine movies and they're all running at the same time, it's a little bit too much but as long as you're smart with it then there's a lot of other characters to explore."
We are not sure what this means for Wolverine's appearance in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past although Hugh Jackman himself suggested he would have much more than a cameo this time around, following the confirmed return of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen to the franchise.
The Wolverine will hit UK screens on 26 July 2013 while X-Men: Days Of Future Past will arrive on 18 July 2014.

I don't agree, Hugh Jackman has done a superb job as Wolverine and he should continue being the character for as long as his body will allow him to.

I don't think that's what he means. Jackman should be the actor playing Wolverine, but he is simply warning about saturation of the character. Basically is he realising the studio could soon be on depending on Logan as he is an established character that makes easy money for them. Which isn't surprising.

One of the great things about the X-Men movies, is that Wolverine is a constant presence. It makes his character one that everyone can connect with, and these stand alone movies definitely help. A coworker at DISH and I have been discussing how this new Wolverine film will really allow for fans to see a different side of the character. I can’t wait to see him finally deal with his issues, and to prepare, I have been watching all of the X-Men movies using Blockbuster @Home from DISH. It helps that with my busy schedule, I can get movies delivered so quickly in the mail. But what I really love, is that I have unlimited in store exchanges, if I can’t stand to wait. Watching the movies again, it’s amazing to see how much Logan has evolved from his first appearance. I have hope that this new movie will really be a sign that the character isn’t disappearing anytime soon.

Have to say that i can see where Miller is coming from. Don't get me wrong, i think Jackman is brilliant in the role and he probablly was the best thing in the X-Men films, my only issue was that in the original trilogy it was pretty much all about him and his journey. There are other members of the X-Men who need to be given a bigger piece of the pie

To be honest, if you didn't have Jean Grey/Cyclops/Nightcrawler/Beast/Rogue in all the X-Men films, very few people would care. However, if you don't have Wolverine, it's not as good. Sorry, but the main characters that most people want to see in an X-Men movie is Professor X and Wolverine, whilst I'd like to see James Marsden reprise his role as Cyclops, I'm not overly fussed if he doesn't. Of course it doesn't help that he was wasted in the previous films, but the reality is that Wolverine is just the most interesting character that people want to see more of.

Wolverine is a decent character (nowhere near the best of the X-Men) and Jackman is an amazing actor but I agree with Millar, using him all the time is just going to wear the character out especially having him as the main character in an X-Men film. There are some great characters to play around with and they should use that to their advantage while they still have the rights to them.
