Curtis Gilbert is one of the producers for Morning Edition on Minnesota Public Radio News. He has worked for MPR since 2004 in a variety of reporting and producing roles. Curtis covered the 2008 election, and the historic U.S. Senate recount battle that followed. He was the founding producer the nationally distributed American Public Media program Word for Word, and he spent three years working on MPR's Midday program. He was one of ten American journalists awarded the 2007 Arthur F. Burns Fellowship, which sent him to Deutsche Welle radio in Bonn, Germany. When he's not at work, Curtis can often be found combing area thrift stores for bargains, cooking elaborate meals and playing cards. He grew up in central Maine and came to Minnesota in 1998 to study music and communication at Macalester College.
