Queen Victoria Market
At 17 acres, Queen Victoria Market claims to be the Southern Hemisphere’s largest open-air market.
And while it’s especially known for its produce, at that size you can find just about anything. Opened in 1878, it’s also a city landmark.
Seven Seeds Coffee
In a city that prides itself on coffee culture, it takes a lot to stand out from the crowd.
Founded in 2007, Seven Seeds coffee is a relative newcomer to the scene, but it’s made up for lost time. Visit its largest café in Carlton for a free lesson in coffee cupping and a full menu of breakfast offerings.
Abbotsford Convent
Four kilometers from Melbourne’s CBD, this former Convent of the Good Shepherd has been reborn as an art and cultural precinct in Melbourne.
Its 11 historic buildings and 6.8 hectares of gardens and lawns are situated on the Yarra River. A changing program schedule means each visit is different from the last.
Curtin House
Outside, it’s a humble 1922 building nestled in the CBD. Inside, it’s six floors of restaurants, bars, live music, clothing shops and a rooftop cinema.
The best of Melbourne’s multiculturalism all contained in one building.
Melbourne Cricket Ground
It's simply known as the “G,” and it's simply impossible to overstate the Melbourne Cricket Ground’s importance to the city’s identity.
Considered one of the world’s greatest sporting grounds, it is the home of Australian Rules football, the birthplace of Test cricket and the main venue of the 1956 Olympic Games.
While it holds more than 80 events annually, it’s also home to the National Sports Museum, making the “G” worth a visit all year long.
