Children from Karagita, an informal settlement in Naivasha town, that has about 54,000 people, eat a meal at the Community Cooker. Karagita is a real melting pot of different tribes and cultures from Kenya and because of this it was deeply affected by the post election violence in 1998 which took on a tribal slant. Naivasha has began to recover and this Community Cooker and Community Café is perfect as it a recreational area where workers can come to unwind and mix freely after a hard day’s work or bring their families to visit over the weekend. ©Mariella Furrer From URBAN INGENUITY Jan 23, 2013
