Our commitment
The Financial Times (FT) has a global staff of around 2000, of whom 600 are editorial staff. Our mission is to be the gold standard in global business news and analysis, in print and online. Our actions
Diversity council and training
The FT, as part of Pearson, has a proactive approach to diversity. Along with other companies, we are represented on a Pearson-wide diversity council.
Our management teams receive training on managing a diverse workforce, and we recently participated in a diversity training programme run by Smart Coaching International.
Pearson Diversity Summer Internship programme
We actively encourage diversity within our organisation; each year, we take part in the Pearson Diversity Summer Internship programme.
This is a UK-only programme run by our parent company Pearson. Each year, we recruit between five to nine interns across a range of departments, including Editorial.
Recruitment initiatives
We have invested in a number of initiatives to help us attract and retain the best possible people.
Our recruitment site, www.careersatft.com, is designed to:
- make roles more accessible to both internal and external candidates
- improve efficiency and reduce recruitment costs.
The site contains blogs and role profiles, as well as information about our benefits and development opportunities, so that potential candidates can gain a better understanding of life at the FT.
We also take part in Pearson’s NewDirections programme, which helps Pearson people undertake a short-term assignment in a different part of the world.
