"It was the people on the boat that saved Carnival," says the Rev. Wendell Gill of First Baptist Church in Laporte, Texas. He spoke with the Los Angeles Times about his experience onboard. "In an adverse situation, most people will rise to help -- that’s just the human spirit," he said.

Suspension over boy's imaginary grenade?

Suspension over boy's imaginary grenade?

A Colorado mom says her second-grade son was suspended from school for a grenade on the playground. It wasn't a toy grenade -- one that existed only in his imagination.

Dr. Paul Bankes, with the Thompson School District, sent the following statement to HLN: "Please know that we have never suspended a student for an imaginary weapon nor would we ever do that. The news reported from one point of view. We are not willing to share details because we do not want to violate the rights of the student as protected by federal law. I truly am saddened to think so many folks out there think we are that insensitive or that stupid."
