As a business that's fast becoming the compelling alternative to financial services, audit at The Co-operative Bank is big business. As Head of Internal Audit, your remit will cover everything from overseeing internal audits to providing assurance on both a financial and reputation perspective.
Playing a key role at the heart of our leadership team, one of the key aspects of this post will be to design and implement a new internal audit strategy. This will involve building a dynamic audit plan and responding effectively to business requirements – so, getting to grips with the inner workings of the business in order to resolve any issues before they occur.
You will also lead, motivate and develop the wider Internal Audit team, delivering training and development opportunities to ensure a consistently high performance. As a trusted advisor across Finance and Treasury; Transformation and Program Change; IT; Retail and GI; or Customer Operations and Corporate and Business Banking, it will be your responsibility to ensure best practice internal audit processes and procedures are implemented – and adhered to – at all times.
With extensive knowledge and experience within the internal audit field (ideally in a business similar to ours), it is imperative that you have strong business partnering skills, along with the ability to influence colleagues at all levels. We are looking for someone who has a track record in transforming the profile of teams through managing change, as well as experience of implementing risk based internal audit standards, together with a relevant postgraduate qualification (ACA/ACCA/MIIA).
