RT's Oscar Picks 2013 - Results

Summary

We at Rotten Tomatoes freely admit we're not the world's greatest Oscar prognosticators. Still, we did a bit better than usual this year; while there were some surprises (Sound Editing was a tie?!) and a few winners that aren't all that surprising in retrospect, most of our predictions came true at the 85th Annual Academy Awards. Read on to see how our forecast squared with the final results! Back to Article

I enjoyed Lincoln and Argo but believe Argo deserves the Best Pic nod.

I hope I'm not the only one who doesn't care too much for the Best Director category anymore this year. Bigelow and Affleck should've gotten nods and should've been frontrunners, but I'm not saying at this point Spielberg is getting credit where due. Oh yeah, Wreck-It Ralph should and will win! Brave was good, but wasn't sophisticated enough in character development and even some plot development for a win here just a nod.

Still not over Ben Affleck not being nominated, but atleast he won best pic. Had a feeling Academy wasn't going to ignore Life of Pi. And yeah Wreck-It Ralph is so not for the 'Academy demographic' though it was the best of the bunch. Good for Daniel Day, though I liked Phoenix better.

I must ask this because I can't get an answer anywhere. HOW DO YOU GET TO WATCH THESE SHORT FILMS????? I understand that some animated shorts precede animated features in the theater, but besides those there is clearly a nice pool of short films being made each year, and I want to see them. How can this be done?

I can't believe Les Miserables beat The Hobbit for makeup. That was ridiculous.
