FT Energy Conferences

  • FT/Shell Energy Pathways (16 Sept 2012, Dubai) The Financial Times and Shell organised an exclusive, invitation only event which was attended by leading decision makers and thought leaders from government, civil society, academia and the energy industry from across the MENA region.The theme of the event was ‘The Role of Gas in Achieving a Sustainable Energy Future in MENA
  • The Sustainable Development : The Road to Rio +20 (24 April, NY) hosted by the Financial Times and Valor Econômico brought together senior Brazilian governmental officials and world-class experts for a unique strategic discussion on the transition to a green economy and a more sustainable future.
  • The FT Global Energy Leaders Summit 2012 (18-19 September, London, UK) followed on from the success of the 2011 summit. This two-day event focused on bringing together the sector’s most distinguished leaders, innovators, policy makers and thought leaders we were able to explore the shifting landscape of global energy, and gain valuable insights into the roadblocks and potential solutions to the challenges ahead.

Investing in a Sustainable Future conference

Now in its 4th year, the Financial Times’ Investing in a Sustainable Future conference is a must-attend for investors interested in learning what the leaders of some of the world’s largest multinational corporations are doing to improve their organizations’ ability to continue to profit and grow.

FT Sustainable Banking Awards

  • In partnership with the IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, we support the FT Sustainable Banking Awards. They recognise banks and other financial institutions for leadership and innovation in integrating social, environmental and corporate governance considerations into their operations.

Winners of the seventh FT Sustainable Banking Awards in 2012 included:

  • Sustainable Bank of the Year – Standard Chartered, UK
  • Award for Excellence – Bridges Ventures

FT/BITC Responsible Business supplement

In June 2012, we published the Responsible Business supplement in the FT newspaper in partnership with Business in the Community (BITC).

This year, the winner for ‘Responsible Business of the Year’ went to

Prix Pictet

The FT is the media partner for the Prix Pictet, the world’s photography award for environmental sustainability.

Kofi Annan, Honorary President of the Prix Pictet, gave the 2012 commission to Luc Delahaye. Delahaye was shortlisted for his 10-image submission drawn from the outstanding body of work that he made from 2008-2011, and was awarded by an independent Jury of 8 people.
