Financial Times celebrates 125th anniversary

13 February 2013: Today the Financial Times celebrates 125 years as one of the world’s leading business news organisations by launching a range of initiatives around the globe. These include an anniversary feature in print and online, a new marketing campaign and subscription offer, and a series of global events.

“Since 1888, the FT has grown to become the world’s most authoritative source of global business and political news, providing a trusted guide to international affairs, and we are now read by more people than ever before,” said FT CEO John Ridding. “During our 125 year history, much has changed, especially with the digital disruption of recent years. FT Seasonal Appeal raises $4.89million for The Global Fund for Children

London: 11 February 2013: The Financial Times’ 2012-2013 Seasonal Appeal has raised $4.89 million (£3.12 million) for The Global Fund for Children (GFC), a pioneering investment fund that partners with grassroots organisations to help some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

The appeal ran from November 2012 to the beginning of February, with coverage of the charity’s work in Ghana, Mumbai, Port au Prince, Dakar, Rio de Janeiro and UK featured in the FT throughout December. Read more

Financial Times and Citi announce global call for submissions for 2013 FT/Citi Ingenuity Awards

NEW YORK: 28 January 2013: Today, the Financial Times and Citi announce a global call for submissions for the 2013 FT/Citi Ingenuity Awards: Urban Ideas in Action, a global programme that will recognise individuals, teams, organisations and community groups that have developed groundbreaking solutions to urban challenges that benefit cities, citizens and urban communities.

With more than 3.3 billion people currently living in urban areas – a number expected to rise to over 5 billion by 2030, according to a United Nations report – cities have a pressing need to address accelerating urbanisation to continue to thrive.
