A global perspective on Africa 

This is Africa, a new publication from the Financial Times Ltd, seeks to examine African business and politics in a global context and to make sense of the relationships that Africa is building with the rest of the world. It aims to challenge international preconceptions about the continent and to identify the opportunities and the risks in this dynamic business environment.

The publication will equip senior decision makers with the knowledge to understand the evolution of African economies; to find partners and investments that match their criteria for return or for development and to position their brands to take advantage of the rise of the African consumer.

Meet the team:

Lanre Akinola
Lanre Akinola is the Editor of This Is Africa, a Financial Times Ltd publication, focused on analysis of the policy and the business environment across the continent, as well as Africa's strategic relationships with other world regions. He covers a broad range of topics relating to Africa across the fields of business, policy and development. A native of Lagos, Nigeria, he holds a degree in politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London.
Adam Green
Adam Robert Green is senior reporter at This is Africa, focusing on trade and investment, development policy, energy and social service delivery. Previously, he worked at the International Growth Centre, a research hub at the London School of Economics, and was Editor of Exploration and Production: Oil and Gas Review. His writing has been published in China Post, New Internationalist, the Middle East Institute, Foreign Policy in Focus, and IPS. Adam graduated from the University of Leeds and is pursuing a Masters in Development Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies.
Eleanor Whitehead
Eleanor Whitehead is a reporter at This is Africa, focusing on business, policy and development across the continent. She has travelled extensively across the continent for both work and leisure, and has a particular interest in sub-Saharan African consumer markets. Previously, Eleanor worked at financial publishing house Euromoney Institutional Investor plc. She holds a first class degree from Durham University. Her work has also been published in The Independent.
