Critic Review - Newark Star-Ledger

We have seen this future. And not only does it not work - it no longer even surprises.

Shit the score keeps dipping, I was hoping it would stay in the 80's oh well.

This guy sucks...I'm not sure if you've noticed, but there's nothing in any movie that "surprises" anymore. It's all been done... Film-makers have to recycle product(themes and films) at this point. Finding Nemo 3D anyone? If you're going to review films in this day and age(cliche and recycled phrase), you may do better to focus on the merits and demerits of the current iterations. For someone named Whitty, this guy certainly isn't.

You do realize that all human story telling throughout history has been based on recycling, building upon, and tweaking previous ideas, right? This is not a new phenomenon.

"We have seen this future. And not only does it not work - it no longer even surprises."

It saddens me when some one appointed as a reviewer does so little research into the subject they review.

We have seen this world before well done sir we saw it splashed across the 1970 comic pages of the Judge Dredd comics, 2000 AD was by no means the first popular medium portraying a distopian police state future but it was an early one. Sir you are not watching Dredd to see a "suprising new take" on the destopian grim police controlled future you are watching an adaption of the orignal idea.

You don't watch Blade Runner and complain that we've seen the argument of what defines us as humans before nor do you watch shakespear and complain that you've seen tragedy before and it offers nothing suprising.

You are watching an orignal forerunner, respect your history.

Clearly you are a non interesting boar,
this movie was full of shock and awe,
the twists were awesome, and at one point i actualy thought that dredd was gonna die, with the story being so awesome and gritty, i wasnt like "oh he will get saved like all the other heros" no, my heart was already pumping, but once this seen came on it was even more rapid and harder pounding, i really thought this movie was gonna kill dredd, it has more surprises and awe moments that kept me on my toes smiling the whole time, it never slowed not once, it was truly the most badass amazingly awesome action film
i have ever seen, and you
need to go see the film and
take some no doze so your old ass
doesnt fall asleep waiting for the
beginning previews to end and
actualy watch the film.
you need to quit your job, cuz
obvi you arent even paying
attention or caring anymore,
this was the best movie i have
seen, definitly going to go again!

Excuse me Stephen, let me interrupt you by telling you that i live in Mexico, and not exagerating but this "future" you are talking about, for us...its the present, most little cities and some major ones, are living in this extremely crude and violent situations, the only difference is that this movie is based on the future like you said, its sad to say it but our reality its not far from what this movie depicts, a lot of people in Mexico are experiencing violence and unjustice on a "daily basis".

I saw the movie on 4DX and let me tell you it was an experience i wont forget.

You say "emotionless Dredd" and "somehow even less human than Robocop?".... Dredd always shows emotion it comes out in anger but at the same time he has control and follows duty and law. If you notice when the MA-MA gang shots out a sector of the building to try to get him he becomes enraged at the thought of all the life's that were lost. At that time hes bubbling over with emotion he would have beaten Kay to death if Anderson didn't stop him. You have to be able to see past the helmet that is what Dredd is about.
Any Military, Police, Peacekeeper and current Judges they all have to enforce laws that they may not always agree with at the time with the circumstances. Dreed is excellent in so many ways.....
