Q: A friend who worked on the first Spider-Man film told me that in between takes, Franco would secrete himself in the corner of the set to read James Joyce.
Raimi: He always needs to be stimulated, I think. If you talked to him about sports on the way to set, his eyes would sort of glaze over.
This would explain why he looked that way hosting the Oscars!
