Frequently asked questions

How do I switch the credit/debit card or bank account number for my Sustaining membership?
You may call Member Services to make the change. We are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Central Time at 651-290-1212 or 1-800-228-7123. At this time, there is not a way for you to update this information online, but we hope to add this option in the future.

What are my options for thank-you gifts as a Sustainer?
As a Sustainer, you can request an annual thank-you gift just as you would if you were actively renewing your membership. Visit the gifts page to view what’s available at your contribution level, then contact Member Services to order.

If you see other fun MPR-logoed items you’d like, you can get them on our Sustainer Gear page for a small additional donation. Items are specially priced for Sustaining members. Contact us for the link.

Is my MPR contribution tax-deductible?
Your contribution to Minnesota Public Radio is tax-deductible after subtracting the value of any thank-you gifts and/or Minnesota Monthly® magazine. MPR will mail a Tax Substantiation letter to all Sustaining members, as well as to any member who has contributed $240+. For more information and to ask a question, please contact us. MPR is a 501(c)(3) organization.

My MPR renewal is not due for 10 weeks, yet I received a renewal notice today. Why so early? If I renew now, will I lose the 10 weeks from my current membership year?
When you submit payment, your membership benefits will be extended one year from the end of your current anniversary date. Renewing early simply ensures you don’t miss any issues of Minnesota Monthly® (benefit to $120+ donors). The early renewal notice offers some flexibility for contributors. Many people prefer to pay their membership as part of their monthly bills, so the early notice can easily be incorporated into their household’s budget planning.

I can’t find a story I heard on MPR. How do I find the story? It’s not in the archive.
All our stories are organized by date and time, so it’s helpful if you know when you heard the story. View our news schedule to see what program you were listening to. Popular programs include Daily Circuit, 9–12 p.m., M-F, and MPR News Presents, 12–1 p.m., M-F.

When you've figured out what program you were listening to, you can find the story you heard. Visit the program homepage and use the calendar function to toggle between dates. (Due to the copyright holdings of certain stories, we may not be able to post audio.)

If the story came to MPR from a national program, such as NPR’s Talk of the Nation or Fresh Air, visit their official program pages that are linked from the MPR News schedule. Those program pages use a similar calendar function to organize their stories.

If you’re still not getting the desired results, another option is contacting our friendly Member Services team. They are real people who can assist you in the search or provide more information. You can also call them at 1-800-228-7123, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Central Time.

The MPR Archive is home to nearly 5,000 stories dating back to 1972. These stories were digitized from reel-to-reel tapes. This project is by no means complete, and our archivists are regularly adding content.
