Social media Q&A

Below are answers to some of the most frequently-asked questions about the FT’s presence on social media. We hope they help:

  • What is the difference between @ft and @financialtimes on Twitter?
    • These accounts are the same – for now. People refer to us by both names, so we use both handles.
  • Why do you tweet links to stories that aren’t free?
    • We have a registration model on ft.com. You can read up to eight FT articles per month for free, just by registering: http://on.ft.com/socialregs.
  • Why can’t I login to ft.com using my Facebook/Twitter account?
    • You should be able to soon. We plan to introduce social sign-in this year.
  • Where can I find a list of your Twitter accounts?
    • You can find a list of our official accounts – and our journalist’s personal accounts – at www.ft.com/twitter
  • Why haven’t you retweeted me?
    • We stick to retweeting our colleagues but we talk to our readers using @ replies.
  • I can’t log in to FT.com. Who should I contact?
    • Please message our colleagues either by email – help@ft.com – or on Twitter using @ftcare.
  • I want to be part of the FT’s community and to talk to you. Where should I go?
