Where do I find a past edition or older story?
Try using the search box at the top of any page. Note that stories may have differnet headlines than appeared in print, so use keywords or names for the best results. You can also browse news posted to the site in the last 24 hours on our contents page. This does not correspond in any way to the contents of the print edition. For an exact replica of the print edition, subscribe to our E-edition online.

Can I copy or use a story or photo from your site?
All content on our site is copyright The Salt Lake Tribune and associated news services. No material may be reproduced or reused without explicit permission. To inqiure about republication, email fitz@sltrib.com. We do welcome links to our stories from other sites.

Can I purchase a print of a photo I have seen in The Tribune?
Prints and republication rights for photos taken by a Salt Lake Tribune staff photographer can usually be purchased. Contact our data center for more details at 801-257-8930.

Where do I find comics, games, puzzles, etc?
The Tribune does not have republication rights for certain content from the print edition. You'll find online exclusive games, puzzles, horoscopes and more in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

How do I comment on stories?
The Tribune requires that users register to post comments. Click the login link at the top right of any comment thread. Login with your existing Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo! ID or click the "Register a new Disqus profile" link. User guidelines are posted here.

Can I hide story comments?
Yes. Simply click the "Hide Comments" button at the bottom of any story. Your browser will remember this setting on all stories on our site unless and until you decide to view comments again. You do not need to register or log in to hide comments.

How can I report a comment that violates your user agreement?
We rely heavily on reported comments and encourage you to let us know of anything you see that you feel violates our rules. Every reported comment is investigated individually and in context; reported comments are not instantly or automatically removed. To report a comment to us, simply click the flag icon on the comment and click on the button that says "Yes, flag as inappropriate".

Why don't you name the suspects in all of your crime stories?
The Tribune believes it is ethical to name a suspect only if the paper intends to follow the case to its eventual outcome. Charges may be dropped, initial charges may be downgraded, plea deals could be reached or the accused may be found not guilty. In those cases, the suspect deserves to have the full story -- not just the initial report -- be reflected in the public record of his or her case.

Therefore, if The Tribune names a suspect, its editors are committing the resources to follow that person's case through the entire court system. If the circumstances are newsworthy but not determined to rise to the level of following court hearings for several months or years, a reporter will write the story but omit the names of the accused. The Tribune weighs many factors when determining whether to name a suspect, including the severity of the crime, the person's position in the community, whether there was abuse of power, the unusualness of the circumstances, etc. Editors do not consider factors such as race or religious affiliation unless they are distinctly related to the crime.

Also, The Tribune may not name suspects in sexual abuse cases if doing so would identify the victim.
