Wednesday movie roundup: 'Turbo' spins its wheels

The kiddies get a humpday treat at the moviehouses today: DreamWorks Animation's latest computer-animated adventure, "Turbo."

It's the tale of a plucky snail (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) who aspires to be a racer. He gets a chance to make that dream come true when he's hit with a burst of nitrous oxide and acquires super-speed powers. He decides to use these powers to fight crime … er, no, he uses them to race in the Indianapolis 500 (which, this movie leads you to believe, is still a thing).

The movie's cute and colorful, but there's nothing particularly special about it. The follow-your-dreams scenario is familiar, as are the gaggle of supporting characters. Kids will enjoy it, but parents will find will be able to name a dozen other movies just like it.
