Online Instruction and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

Dr. Seppälä is the founder of the World Education Portals service, which offers online courses for free. The myweps.com services is being used at several universities including Florida State University and the University of Helsinki.

With extensive support from the NSF and from Finnish funding agencies, Dr. Seppälä develops learning analytics for MOOCs.


Hybrid Symbolic Numeric Computation in Complex Analysis
Topics of interest include explicit numerical uniformization of algebraic curves and numerical methods to compute Teichmüller mappings between algebraic curves.

Representation of Mathematics in the web
Development and the use of the OpenMath protocol to render mathematical web pages the capability to compute remotely. Such methods and tools power the WEPS Calculus courses.
