Grant Gibbs, CMTPT
Clinical Expertise:
Grant has been a certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist since 2007. His specialized areas of care are with body mechanics, postural issues, ergonomics in the workplace and at home, assisting with athletic injuries, and relieve musculoskeletal pain.
Philosophy of Care:
“My mission as a trigger point therapist is to assist people to feel and work better with manual therapies and to give them tool’s and information which they can use to help their bodies feel and work optimally.”
Education:
Grant attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado from 1978-1981. He then attended Massage Therapy School at UAA in Anchorage, and received his massage therapy licensure in 1991. Grant received his Myofascial Trigger Therapy certification from the American Institute for Myofascial Studies in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2007.
Extracurricular Activities and Personal Interests:
Grant is a certified “Bones For Life” instructor and trainer with Ruthy Alon, Senior Feldenkrais Trainer and Creator of BFL.
Grant is a board member of the Alaska Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association and served as president from 1991 until 1999. He coached Alyeska Mighty Mites Ski from 1983-1998 and volunteered at Alaska Health Fairs from 1992-2001. Grant also taught Hatha Yoga as an instructor in Anchorage, Bird Creek and Girdwood from 1986 until 2002.
Currently, Grant is assisting his last child through home school. He enjoys watching all four of his children grow into adults. He loves the outdoors and enjoys walking his dog along the coast of Anchorage and in the mountains. He spends a lot of time studying and likes to draw. I enjoy watching all of my four children grow into adults.
