A band of rebels led by Felicity Jones face off against storm troopers, dodge AT-AT fire and seek to infiltrate Empire strongholds in the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The film marks the space saga's first live-action anthology film and stars Jones as Jyn Erso, a budding criminal who's recruited to uncover details about a major upcoming Empire weapons test. As expected, that weapon is the Death Star, and the plans seem to be the same ones that helped the Rebel Alliance destroy it in A New Hope.
The trailer offers shots of the infamous floating murder machine, as well as an exciting montage of action sequences and one classic, cocky one-liner from Jyn to set the stakes: "This is a rebellion isn't it? I rebel."
Rogue One also stars Forrest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Diego Luna and Donnie Yen. It was directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and is set to open on December 16th. Rian Johnson's as-yet-untitled Episode VIII will follow in December 2017.
