Research Policy

Patrons will do their own research under the guidance of the Archivist/Volunteer on duty. All request slips for research material must be accompanied by one piece of identification. I.D will be retained until the requested material is returned.

Repeat patrons may wish to register to receive a Flamborough Archives research pass. In this case, I.D. is only required at the time of registration.

All materials requested are to be used in the Archives research area.

Research requests received by mail, email or telephone will be responded to, advising the patron of any charges. Upon receiving this reply from the Archives, researchers will be requested to submit payment before work will commence.  The Archives will not prepare family charts.

The name(s) and address(es) of any other person researching the same family will be provided as this frequently results in the discovery of distant relatives. No research in other area libraries, archives or Land Registry Offices will be undertaken.
