FIRST Finger Lakes Regional Robotics Competition

The Office of RIT Government and Community Relations and Special Events coordinates RIT’s participation in community events and manages special events that take place on the RIT campus, such as the annual FIRST Finger Lakes Regional Robotics Competition

The office offers a “one-stop shop” when planning events that respond to the unique needs and characteristics of their clients.

RIT is a major sponsor and supporter of this annual event. Many RIT faculty and staff volunteer their time as well to mentor teams and support the logistical operation of the event.  It takes more than 100 volunteers to coordinate all the logistics—from set up to take down—for the 3,000-plus robotics team members, their mentors, teachers, families and fans who turn out each year for FIRST Finger Lakes Regional Robotics Competition in Rochester.  The Office of Special Events & Conferences manages and coordinates all the ‘moving parts’ that go into accomplishing that feat.  RIT also awards up to as many as 20 FIRST Robotics Scholarships for the incoming freshmen each year who have participated on a high school FIRST team.
