Munson visits with governance groups

David C. Munson, RIT’s 10th president, met the campus community at a series of forums on Feb. 28 and March 2.

The former dean of the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering met with Student Government, Academic Senate, Staff Council, University Council, and answered questions at two campus-wide events. The first forum was live web streamed and recorded for later viewing. He also held a webinar with alumni.

At the events, Munson talked about his background, his love of music and the arts, his success at Michigan and his excitement about taking on the role of RIT president.

He made clear that he does not intend to turn RIT into the University of Michigan.

“If I have my way, RIT will remain distinctive and if anything have a crisper story of what we are about, how we are different and how we are the best at what we do,” he said.

Munson starts July 1.
