Students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries attend RIT. Nearly 3,600 students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds are enrolled on the main campus along with more than 2,600 international students. An additional 2,400 students are enrolled at RIT’s international locations. RIT is an internationally recognized leader in preparing deaf and hard-of-hearing students for successful careers in professional and technical fields. The university provides unparalleled access and support services for the more than 1,000 deaf and hard-of-hearing students who live, study, and work with hearing students on the RIT campus.

RIT is a kaleidoscope of curious minds — each embraced for our uniqueness and all working toward countless different goals. Diversity is essential to organizational growth and synergy. At RIT, you’ll live and study with more than 2,600 international students from over 100 countries. In addition, more than 2,000 students of color have elected to study at RIT, embodying our commitment to diversity. Adding a social and educational dynamic not found at any other university are more than 1,000 deaf and hard-of-hearing students supported by RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf. RIT has long recognized the importance of diversity to organizational growth and synergy. The university has been recognized as a prestigious “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity magazine three consecutive years (2016, 2017, 2018). In addition, RIT is also a four-time recipient of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award.

Many of RIT's students live in RIT residence halls, suites, studios, apartments, townhouses, and at the RIT Inn and Conference Center. In addition, there are free-standing Greek houses that accommodate six of our fraternities and sororities. Incoming freshmen are guaranteed RIT housing.
