Bug-a-Palüza will be held April 10, 2021 at First Horizon Pavilion in Chattanooga, TN. 1826 Reggie White Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37408 (Finley Stadium) We hate to change this at the last minute, but it was not our choice. Unfortunately, the park declined to move forward with hosting our event and left us with no option except to change venues. Bug-a-Palüza will now be a one day event in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. Please note that if you were previously registered for Bug-a-Palüza 2020 and did not choose to refund or donate your fee, your registration will be automatically carried over to 2021. This large festival features a VW car show with classes for air-cooled and water-cooled, and a huge swap meet with vendors selling new and used parts. Plus plenty of food, contests, prizes, and more. Custom trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each class. All event proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga. In previous years, we donated over $25,000. Help us top that for 2021! Spectator entrance is just $5 per person for the entire weekend. Children 12 and under admitted free. Show car registration - $20 per vehicle, or $10 for a non-judged spot. Park on the grass, near trees at the Madera Fairgrounds. 26 years in the making... in 2019 over 450 VWs and 90 swappers were on hand. Half hour TV show is filmed featuring many of the owners and Vdubs. it is broadcast on Father's Day morning on a local TV station. Over 23 participant judged classes for most VWs. Stock or custom. Both air cooled and water cooled VWs are invited. We park vehicles in class or by club. The New Old Stock VW host club can only display, not enter their VWs. Hot VW's has featured our club's show the last two active years in their magazine. It truly is one of the best in California. Camp Friday April 23 and Saturday April 24 night if you wish. Show and Swap on Sunday April 25 7am to 3pm. Hot Wheel VW racing for the kids. (Bring your Hot Wheels type VW. Kid's banana eating contest. VW Toy contest. Kids VW coloring contest. All FREE! The Madera Fairgrounds feature some of the nicest real bathrooms. Restaurants and stores within walking distance. Diner night and mini show on Saturday night. Prices: 20' x 20' swap space $20 on Sunday (camp in it for $20 more) Show your VW on Sunday only $20. VANAGO - Dana Point 2021 Salt Creek Beach parking lot in Dana Point. The location has been selected to try to include Vanagon owners from the Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Inland Empire areas. Location: Salt Creek Beach, 33333 S. Pacific Coast Hwy., Dana Point Though the address gets you very close, the entrance to this parking lot is actually on Ritz Carlton Drive. Once inside the parking lot, turn LEFT and go NORTH to the north corner of the parking lot near the lighthouse. This should be the least populated part of the lot and allow us space to park together. Date: Sunday, April 25th Time: 10:00AM - 4:00PM Bathrooms: One set of bathrooms at the parking area near entrance and another set down at the beach. Parking Fee: $1.00/hour - pay at nearby kiosk that takes cards and cash. If needed, you can leave and return freely during the time you've paid for. Pets: Pets are allowed ON LEASH in the parking area. Please be respectful of others who may be alarmed by even friendly dogs. Please don't think this isn't meant for your special dog that doesn't need a leash, or let your "leashed" dog run free dangling the leash behind. Dog Park: There is a fenced, off-leash dog area 0.1 miles through the tunnel under PCH. Food: Best to bring your own, but there's Zack's at the beach (0.2 mile walk) with burgers, tacos, sandwiches and salads. Also the Beach Hut Deli is just beyond the edge of the parking lot, also about a 0.2 mile walk). Beach & Park: A big green grassy park is 0.1 mile walk toward the beach and the beach is 0.2 miles, passing the park in the way. Zack's rents boogie boards, surfboards, and beach umbrellas if you want to spend time there. How far is this area from....? - Oceanside: 30 miles - Anaheim: 32 miles - Long Beach: 40 miles - Escondido 48 miles - Riverside: 56 miles - Central San Diego: 67 miles - Santa Monica: 70 miles Agenda: None - just an opportunity to hang out and talk and see each other's vans. 10:00AM - 4:00PM Registration: None Cost: None - except the parking fee What's included: Nothing. When: May 22 & May 23, 2021 Where: German-American Society, 215 Uncle Pete's Rd, Yardville, NJ 08691 Public Donations and Beverage donations go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Day One (Campout, optional) – Saturday, May 22 Camping starting at 3 p.m. on May 22 and the gates will close at 9 p.m. There will be a DJ and fire pit down by the camping area. We will have a movie night also. An award will be issued for "Best VW Campsite Display". The Two Roads Brewery VW Bus will be present again this year. There are 40 Show Car Classes with 1st-3rd place awards for both air-cooled and water-cololed VWs plus Special Choice awards and Best of Show trophies awarded. Car registration opens at 9am, judging starts at 12 noon and awards at 3pm. The show also has a huge swap meet with over 75 vendors selling new and used VW items. We will still have a car show, swap meet, and cruise, but we are adding something special for those off road guys! We will be laying out an off-road course for all you dune buggies, bajas, and everyone else who wants to have some fun in their Vw! April 2-3, 2022 All VW’s are welcomed and encouraged to attend We are at it once again. For those who did not have a chance to participate in Herbie The Love Bug’s 50 Year Anniversary which included the Lakeland VW Classic pictured above, we are doing it again in April of 2022, celebrating 53 Years since the release of the very first movie. This time around, there are going to be even more Herbies than ever from around the US and Canada plus numerous fans from around the world. But we wanted to make it special for everyone as well so we decided to open up the last two days of the event to ALL VW’s. Detailed planning is just now starting due to the COVID-19 Virus, but we have locked in April 3rd with the speedway which will give us access to the infield for a real celebration including a judged show and the ability to run laps and have pictures taken in front of the world famous Start/Finish line. This is simply the first notice of it’s kind so that everyone can put it on their calendars and start saving a few dollars so that you can participate as well. This will be a non-profit event and we have already coordinated with other shows in the area such as No-Dough which is also normally held in April to minimize conflicts. The details of the event will be handled by the Executive Board, but we will need help with the execution of this event.
