Disneyland's famous Fantasmic Dragon catches on fire during a nighttime live show.

Per Entertainment Weekly, the Maleficent dragon burst into flames mid-show despite being designed to shoot flames from its gaping maw. The blaze was caught on video that has since gone viral on TikTok. In the video, an announcer can be heard telling patrons, "This performance of Fantasmic cannot continue." The announcer continued apologizing before reminding visitors a final time, "Once again, this performance cannot continue due to unforeseen circumstances. Thank you."

Representatives from Disney and the Anaheim Fire & Rescue Department have not made any comment as of the time of writing, although the Los Angeles ABC affiliate station did confirm that Disneyland evacuated its Frontierland area which borders the Rivers of America where the Fantasmic show takes place.

Fantasmic launched in 1992 as one of the park's most explosive nighttime shows. Featuring story and design elements from the 1940s animated musical anthology Fantasia, Fantasmic utilizes pyrotechnics, water and projection effects, and live actors as a part of the show. This is the second such blaze associated with the show, as the Maleficent dragon in Florida's Disney World resorts similarly caught fire during a parade at Disney's Magic Kingdom in 2018.

Marvel Studios Gives Rogers: The Musical a Live Show

This incident comes less than two weeks after Marvel Studios released the first look at Rogers: The Musical, the upcoming live show based on the fictional stage show of the same name made famous as a running gag throughout various entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe beginning with 2021's Hawkeye. Although the show was only mentioned during Hawkeye's runtime, fans were treated to a full cut of one of its musical numbers during the finale's mid-credits sequence. Since then, Rogers: The Musical has made appearances in the form of different posters and promo materials strewn throughout the background of shows such as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and films including Spider-Man: No Way Home.

At Disneyland, a marquee for the show was spotted at The Hyperion Theater next to Disneyland's Avengers Campus attraction, bookmarked by Captain America's quote "I can do this all day" made famous by Chris Evans in the MCU. Rogers: The Musical was announced in February with a promotional video featuring Peggy Carter as she examines a playbill for the show before entering the Hyperion as ragtime music plays in the background.
