Twilight Princess remains an absolutely brilliant jewel in the crown of the Gaming Industry. Almost perfect even though so many years have passed.

Twilight Princess HD does everything its predecessor did but better, making it one of the most triumphant remasters yet and cementing it as one of the best games of our generation.

Ten years later, Twilight Princess is still a tale masterfully told and designed. The gameplay and story hold up remarkably well, and the HD visuals, updated textures, and a handful of improved mechanics make the HD version the definitive edition of the game. In a word, it is a masterpiece, then and now.

This HD remaster is a complete success. If you haven't played Twilight Princess yet, you should do it ASAP.

Despite a few minor flaws we concluded that Twilight Princess is still a joy to play. Temples like the Goron Mines, Snowpeak Ruins and City in the Sky are timeless and are easily among the best temples of the Zelda franchise.

Replaying through Twilight Princess was decidedly enjoyable and cemented it as one of my favorites. The somber tone, often melancholic music, an impressive slate of dungeons, and intriguing characters always felt simply comforting, in a way. The transition to HD and few tweaks made in this re-release have only improved on what was already a stellar game.

Rough horse and camera behaviour, combined with a mostly empty Hyrule Field, aren't enough to bog down what's otherwise one of the best titles in the Zelda series - and arguably in gaming history.

It was a great game back when it was new. It’s a great game still. Strong narratives don’t age, and this one has a strong story to tell. Throw in quality port work that gives the art direction the detail and clarity that it really deserves, and Twilight Princess is a classic that has scrubbed up well enough to be a worthy Wii U title in its own right.

Twilight Princess is a timeless gem proving that intelligent design beats polygon power any day. This was and still is one of the best action-adventures out there.

If The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess does nothing else, it is still a fresh reminder that even after a decade, there is nothing quite like Zelda.

This HD version might not be as eye candy-worthy as Wind Waker HD was, but that really is a minor quibble for such an amazing experience.

Twilight Princess HD is yet another must-have for the Wii U library. Considering this game is one of my Top 5 favorite Zelda games, the HD treatment is a true treat to behold.

This new version of The Legend of Zedla: Twilight Princess offers superb textures and some nice additions including the use of amiibo and direct access the Hero mode. If you missed this poetic adventure, you have to play it right now on this HD version.

The HD release of Twilight Princess brings all the splendour of the original game to the contemporary age, with a much deserved high definition refurbishing and very welcome mechanics unique to the Wii U. Its structure and fundamentals remain untouched and Twilight Princess HD is as much of a monumental game today as it was upon its original release.

Twilight Princess succeeds largely because of its fantastic dungeons, and the HD enhancements are enough to give fans an excuse to go riding through the plains of Hyrule once more.

Crafted during anxious times for Nintendo, developed for two consoles simultaneously, this was the GameCube's last hurrah, a Wii launch title, and a defining test for motion controls (which have been stripped out). Perhaps now, ten years later, it can finally be remembered how it ought to be; the dark and violent showpiece of a treasured series.

Beyond that, what we have here is an attractive remaster with some nice additions, encompassing improved controls, visuals and enjoyable extras for fans. It's a deep, involving 30+ hour adventure, which draws the player in with plenty of honesty and soul; we're certainly glad this one has come to light.

This is a fantastic game, even with the lame side quests and overworld. If you missed out back in the day or only have fuzzy decade-old memories, this Wii U remake is, no doubt, the new and best way to experience Twilight Princess.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is a masterful update of an outstanding Wii and GameCube game. Those who've yet to experience this epic quest are in for a treat, while folks who've previously completed it can look forward to doing so again with updated visuals and improved mechanics like second screen support.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is a fantastic upgrade to an already magnificent game. Certainly, it hasn't aged as well as some of the other games in the series, but the work done to bring it to the Wii U fixes most of the problems that could have arose. Nintendo also tweaked a bunch of gameplay elements, on top of adding in Gamepad support, making for the definitive way to play one of gaming's best adventures.

The HD rerelease is a good chance to hop back in and appreciate all that – the terrific character development, the unique gameplay ideas, and a very scary Bug Princess.

I expected more from the graphics upgrade after comparing Twilight Princess HD to 2013’s Wind Waker HD, but this version of the game stands to prove that even ten years on, the game holds up well.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD might not be the best Zelda, at least it aged well. The HD port is not on all levels equally solid, plus there are not a lot of new features. However, this game still is an amazing adventure that will entertain you for many hours.

After ten years this game still knows how to impress. The HD version is excellent, but it does offer the minimum of what you'd expect. It is mostly the same game with just a few minor tweaks, one of which is Amiibo support which is to be totally neglected.

Twilight Princess is respectful porting, maybe even too much respectful, of the original Gamecube version. The control system maintains the original flaws, and there are few, or hardly any, changes to the gameplay. Which might be good for hardcore fans of the original, but newcomers might have expected something more.

Its age is apparent in open-world areas and questionable pacing, but its clever puzzles and thick fan service are just as appealing now as ever.

Properly remastered piece, while not so detailed as Windwaker remake, yet it satisfies you and show how great the Twilight Princess is. If you have not played it, you have to try with this remake, and even if you already played the original you should consider a replay. The unique atmosphere and great design overcome the errors from the original.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD brings one of the Zelda franchises most beloved games to a contemporary platform, revamping some of the features and making room for amiibo functionality. While flawed in some ways, it gives longtime fans a good reason to replay it.

If you can surpass the boring structure and setting, you will enjoy a conservative Zelda with the best dungeons in the series. Even though the textures are reworked, it lacks the love and care put in specific aspects like lighting in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.

The biggest upgrade made to the game is the visual boost. The new textures bring dungeons and temple settings to life as foliage and other elements of the environment are crisper and cleaner thanks to the HD visuals. Character models are nicely detailed, though the art style is starting to show its age.

Twilight Princess never quite reaches the heights of Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask, but it’s easily the third-finest Zelda in the modern era. It was the dark recovery of a game that the franchise needed after Wind Waker, and it reestablished the focus and core pieces of the franchise...It’s a good game to have back. And ten years later, while imperfections show, it still manages to stand up.

While not as stunning as the remake of Wind Waker, Twilight Princess HD manages to deliver a refined experience improving both gameplay and the technical side of the game. We enjoyed refined textures and cleaner effects, while having a nice trip down memory lane.

Unlike The Wind Waker, Zelda: Twilight Princess suffers from the damages of time. This HD version makes its empty, edgy places, its out-of-age animations and its character design even worse. The game's still captivating though.

It surely wasn't an original Zelda experience at the time, but as a remastered it still works, and if you love the saga, you really don't want to miss this one.

It’s certainly not the best entry in the Zelda series, but a good quality remaster and the presence of Midna still makes this one worth returning to.

Little quality-of-life additions like GamePad item management go a long way with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. They manage to hide some of the game's less flattering blemishes, and let you focus on what it does best. While I still wouldn't put it near the top of the Zelda pile, it's still head and shoulders above most modern adventure games.

Fans of the original will wolf down everything this revamp has to offer, and if it passed you by back in 2006, this is the best way to experience it for the first time.

At times, the HD upgrade looks fantastic. At other times, the HD upgrade looks terrible. But underneath it all, the game is still Twilight Princess, and that means that it’s a great game.

The extra coat of paint may not dry properly on all facets of the project, thanks to the amiibo-based paywall that will block some users from the new dungeon, but it’s a nice stop-gap that will easily tide fans over amidst the wait for the brand new The Legend of Zelda game arriving for Wii U later this year.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD preserves the best and worst of the 2006 original. Its opening can be tedious, but it’s worth enduring so you can experience such a magical world.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD offers a sharper, more visually appealing version of a game that has already earned its merits in design. One that sometimes doesn’t hit the highest notes the series is capable of, but one that equally manages to keep you engaged in a more though provoking, mature Zelda tale. Whether returning or venturing forth for the first time, it shouldn’t be missed.

Twilight Princess HD is about as straightforward as remakes come, but it finally presents that picture with exacting clarity, warts and all.

Some elements of the game haven’t aged all that well and the remastering process simply hasn’t addressed them. However, with that still in mind, Twilight Princess HD remains an adventure that deserves revisiting, still offering a great deal for returning fans and newcomer

It's great to finally have a high-definition port of Twilight Princess - it needed one more than most. Its strong dungeon design holds up well enough, but its meandering pace is unlikely to win over its detractors. Still, if you missed it the first time, give it a look. If nothing else, Midna is still a delight.

Not only Twilight Princess was first released ten years ago, its development began five years earlier, when game design conventions were rather different. HD-version stays faithful to the original even when it shouldn’t have – for example, if you don’t approach a ladder from a right angle, Link will ignore it. Still, there are some improvements to the interface, and a few absurdly time-consuming tasks were toned down. [Issue#207, p.62]

One component of the original Twilight Princess refused to be transferred into HD. It is, unfortunately, the most important one – the game’s distinct atmosphere, that vanished almost completely. [05/2016, p.61]

Twilight Princess is probably the safest, most formulaic of the series, yet it still manages to be a pretty compelling and fun adventure all on its own.

Personally, I found this remaster to have improved things just enough to cement me as a fan of Twilight Princess. The world is far more vibrant than before, and turning off motion controls removes almost all the frustration I experienced with the Wii version. I have an enduring affection for Twilight Princess' idiosyncrasies, creepy Malo Mart and all, and I'm glad we've had the chance to see the title refreshed for the HD generation.

On the whole, these improvements make Twilight Princess HD the best version of the worst modern Zelda game. That said, even a mediocre Zelda game is still pretty fun. If you can get past its tonal oddities and paint-by-numbers structure, it's a good game, but not a great one. I enjoyed it as a cultural artifact, but replaying it made me appreciate that this direction for the series was temporary.
