Feb 11, 2015The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is an absolute wonderful port that in someways is better than its PS3 brother. With stunning graphics and the great touch controls, it's almost perfect. Despite Peace Walker not being included, it would be a shame if this game wasn't in every Vita owners collection.
-
Jun 19, 2012As a whole, this is a set of games that is really a must have for Vita owners. Whether you're starving for content on the Vita, or feel pretty satiated with the current slate of titles that have released over the past couple weeks, having both of these games on a handheld platform is simply amazing.
-
Jul 22, 2012Strong proof that MGS works on handhelds, even if Peace Walker isn't on it.
-
Jun 28, 2012Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection contains two of the very best stealth games of the last decade, lavishly updated and jam-packed with extra content.
-
Jun 25, 2012There's no Peace Walker included, frame rate might be inconsistent, rear touch controls are a little tricky to adapt to and a few textures didn't age so well; however, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection offers two real masterpieces which really stand the test of time.
-
Jun 21, 2012As in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, a polished collection with two classics that every gamer should try. They have been upgraded visually and well adapted to the portable screen, but maybe it arrives too late for some players who had already bought the domestic versions. And of course we miss Peace Walker.
-
Jun 18, 2012While the lack of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is extremely disappointing, if you own a Vita and somehow managed to miss all of the previous releases of these two titles, now is a better time than ever to come out of your cardboard box and experience these two award winning games whether at home or on the go.
-
Jun 13, 2012Packed with content, and it's a joy to play. Whether you're returning to Snake's adventures or experiencing them for the first time, these two games feel at home on the Vita, look great and will keep you busy for quite some time.
-
Jul 19, 2012When you're out and about and you've got some downtime, your fancy new Vita is just begging for some classic stealth action. If you're a fan, it's a no-brainer.

Games Master UKJul 24, 2012A lot of gaming per pound. [Sept 2012, p.108]
-
Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxJul 3, 2012The biggest disappointment is the absence of Peace Walker, the only handheld game from the PS3 HD Collection. "Because you can download the original PSP version from the PS Store and the Vita upscales the game pretty well, we could reduce our production costs tremendously", Konami explains. [July 2012, p.90]
-
Jun 27, 2012The omission of Peace Walker is unfortunate, but the four games and their additional content easily warrant the $40 asking price. Among the current Vita lineup, this collection glimmers like a diamond in the rough.
-
Jun 25, 2012Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection is with its low retail price a must have for new and experienced players. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater are some of the best entries in the franchise. It's only a shame Peace Walker is absent in this collection.
-
Jun 20, 2012Konami has provided a great portable reboot of the Metal Gear Series and a near console quality experience of two amazing games for $40 that you can take on the go.
-
Jun 26, 2012Despite the years, Metal Gear Solid saga is still great, and this HD Collection is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the best adventures from Snake.
-
Jun 20, 2012If you want to travel on the road with Snake, then the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is the right thing for you.
-
Jul 2, 2012The Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection has made quite an impression on us. It brings two classics to the Vita and adds some neat features that make use of the Vita's capabilities. It is a shame that the PSP-classic Peace Walker has been taken out of the package.
-
Aug 11, 2012If you've never played any of these two games and have a PS Vita, then this collection is almost obligatory.
-
Aug 3, 2012Two great classics with tons of extra material. They look great in HD, but where is Metal Gear: Peace Walker?
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Aug 1, 2012Vita or PS3, just be sure to take advantage of one of the collections. [Sept 2012, p.85]
-
Jul 23, 2012Thou shalt not touch Naked Snake!!! No, seriously, the touchscreen features in this game are terrible. Other than that, this collection is perfectly recommendable to gamers who don't own the PS3 edition. We would, however, like to know why Peace Walker wasn't included into the package.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaJul 16, 2012The fact is that having flawless portable versions of Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater (plus the two MSX originals) in a box is worth an exclamation point and a purchase if you're patrolling past it in your local games shop. [August 2012, p79]
-
Jun 27, 2012It's no surprise, in my opinion, that Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker went to considerate efforts to emulate Big Boss's original adventure - but neither manage to capture what made Metal Gear Solid 3 so special.
-
Jun 27, 2012These remain absolute must-play games, no matter what format they're on.
-
Jun 20, 2012A piece of history perfectly translated to Vita, although it's a shame Peace Walker gets lost in the process.
-
Jun 20, 2012The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is a good deal, but the insane absence of Peace Walker spoils an otherwise good bundle. And the lack of the gameplay adjustments of the 3DS version of Snake Eater is another crazy issue. Both Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater are still great, anyway. If you can't play this package on PS3 or Xbox 360, the Vita Version is still worth of your money.
-
Jun 20, 2012Ultimately, the incredible amount of fun and content to be had within Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 outweighs a lot of this package's negatives. But the lack of Peace Walker is such a glaring omission, it really cannot be dismissed all that easily.
-
Jun 19, 2012Overall, the Metal Gear Solid collection is a really nice portable version of two of the most compelling and cinematic games ever. If you are a fan and own a PSVita, then you may enjoy reliving some of the saga on the go. However, for those of you who have never played a Metal Gear game, pick this up if you love deep stories, incredible cinematic cut-scenes, complete thematic insanity, and the thrill of surviving by your wits.
-
Jun 20, 2012Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 keep being fantastic games worth playing, the HD conversion is really good and it´s a pleasure playing them on the go with Vita. However, it was bad enough the original HD Collection didn't include Metal Gear Solid, but the cut of Peace Walker with no reasons make this a less than ideal "Collection". It is good, but it could be way better.
-
Jun 15, 2012Despite an entire game being excised from the package, the MGS HD Collection still costs $40 on Vita – the same price as the PS3 and Xbox 360 version at most retailers. If you already own the title on PS3 and want to transfer your saves between devices to play Metal Gear on the go (and maybe earn some extra trophies), then maybe this trimmed-down version is worth considering. If you're not that kind of Metal Gear fan, then you don't need to waste another thought on this release.
-
Hyper MagazineAug 8, 2012If you haven't played these before, the console release is for you. For super fans, the Vita version is still highly enjoyable. [Sept 2012, p.75]
-
Play UKAug 7, 2012Lovingly presented, but when only one of the games in the 'package' is worth playing then you've got a problem. [Issue#221, p.77]
-
Jul 30, 2012This collection is even poorer than the home consoles version, but you can't ignore the fact that it offers two of the most important PS2 games ever created.
-
Jul 5, 2012Sadly, this is the second-best way to experience part 2 and 3 of the franchise. As an idea for a 'satellite-game' to the home edition, leaving out Peace Walker from the Vita-collection was hardly a stroke of genius. For the moment it seems that the series should stay where it calls home: On a enormous widescreen, support by a gigantic sound-system.
-
Jul 1, 2012An even more bare bones collection than on home consoles - even if it does include the best portable version of Snake Eater so far.
-
Jun 12, 2012The content MGS: HD Collection offers is some of the finest of the last decade. But it's also frustrating that this collection could have-and should have-offered so much more.
