As an energy source, this substance was expected to dramatically advance humanity's technological and communications capabilities. Instead, this substance caused a catastrophe that engulfed the planet and the surrounding stars in flames and storms, forming a Burning Star System.

Almost half a century later, the same substance resurfaced on Rubicon 3, a planet now contaminated and sealed off by the catastrophe.

The player infiltrates Rubicon as an independent mercenary and finds themselves in a struggle over the substance with the corporations and other factions.

In ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON, players will assemble and pilot their own mech with 3D maneuverability to move freely through three dimensional fast-paced missions.

Take on difficult challenges and overwhelm your enemies with dynamic movements that make full use of ranged and melee combat.

Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon is a masterful return to form for the series that incorporates the modern design philosophies of From Software. It’s a dystopian world with a brutally gorgeous aesthetic and refined gameplay elevated by exceptional boss battles. Any fan of the series new or old will find something to love.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon emerges ablaze with FromSoftware’s best impulses. Demanding and rewarding combat is bolstered by series signature customisation and player-driven storytelling to form a masterclass in design philosophy and raw fun.

All in all, Armored Core 6 is an exceptional return for the series after such a long hiatus - keeping the core of the game true to its mechanical origins while integrating much of what has thrust FromSoftware into such overwhelming critical acclaim.

A dream for any fan of mechs, with great visuals and spectacular fights. But the steep difficulty when challenging bosses might put off some players, specially those who aren't familiar with the Souls formula.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is a return in style for the series of robots signed FromSoftware. Despite some frankly incomprehensible slip-ups, including the presence of invisible walls and stealth missions that seem to come from two or three generations ago, the Japanese studio's work manages to offer frenetic and deep combat, as well as heart-pounding boss battles and an incredibly diverse customization system.

As someone who had no prior exposure to Armored Core ahead of Fires of Rubicon, I am both surprised and delighted by how much I have enjoyed this game. Even when shifting to a slightly different genre, FromSoftware has once again asserted that it has a firm grasp on what it takes to make a thrilling and mechanically engaging action experience through and through. This might not be my own favorite FromSoftware game to date, but it's without a doubt worth checking out, regardless of how familiar you might be with Armored Core.

The post-Elden Ring era was going to be difficult, that much was certain. FromSoftware's work on Armored Core 6 is bound to be compared to that of GOTY 2021, and unfortunately it pales into insignificance. At no point do you get a sense of the studio's maturity or expertise. Armored Core 6 could have been anyone's game. A messy title, not very pretty and very repetitive. A game with an archaic, old-fashioned structure that leaves no room for immersion and doesn't even seem to want to draw the player into its world. Fortunately, the gameplay is fun, the sensations are pretty good and some sequences stand out from the crowd. Not to mention the incredible customisation of our mechas, which is sure to delight fans and the big kids in all of us. But does that really justify throwing yourself into the game? I'm not sure. =

The game is the epitome of quick fun, with a lot of challenge, including both skill and "character" progression. Technically is top tier, although the graphics could use some more color palettes, even in the context of trying to convey the desolation and abandonment of Rubicon. 40+ hours into it, started NG+, certainly will try the Platinum. Although a longtime Final Fantasy fan, THIS is my GOTY so far. Expand

Customization is really great though, you can go really in deep if you want it to
