Mortal Kombat 1 is a superbly presented fighting game with something to offer players of all experience and familiarity with NetherRealm's sprawling MK universe. The Kameo fighter system injects new strategic depth into combat, the rebooted timeline feeds a ridiculous story, and the suite of game modes are both varied and well made.
Mortal Kombat 1 looks incredible, has several fun play types depending on what you want to do, constantly rewards you for the time you spend on it, and offers so much customization to the combat through the Kameo system. While I might gripe about sitting through a Fatal Blow, I spend far more time just taking in the near-infinite possibilities that come from each character and Kameo combination. I feel like the ideas that come out of these systems are going to keep this game exciting for some time, and have made something that will be extremely rewarding for players to experiment with.
Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the best fighting games of recent years. A new high point for the series in the form of reimagining, ideal for neophytes and brimming with affection for his legacy for veterans.
Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot with a big, bloody heart. It re-tools Mortal Kombat’s story and characters in creative ways, and for the most part, the combat is excellent. Unfortunately, there are some elements that feel rushed. It’s still a very good fighting game, but it should have been a great one.
The story campaign and, arguably, the fighting are the best they’ve ever been for Mortal Kombat, although there’s currently a lack of other modes and Invasion is a disappointment.
Mortal Kombat 1 envisions an exciting future with fluid combat, a fantastic story mode, and superb visuals - but receding features, underbaked mechanics, and a dated online experience keep it in the past.
To na serio jest nowa era bijatyk. Mortal Kombat 1 przebił wszystkie granice, jakie mogłem sobie wyobrazić. Wspaniała fabuła w formie filmu jest obłędna. Oprawa graficzna zaliczyła duży przełom w detalach oraz kontraście otoczenia. Wspaniałe uczucie zobaczyć tych wszystkich klasycznych bohaterów z żywym charakterem i odnowioną historią. Mam nadzieję że twórcy nie zaprzestaną na tym i będą dożyć do tego, aby ta seria dostała nowe lepsze życie.
MK1 is a decent game, just lacking in key areas compared to its recent iterations. The game graphics look great from the characters to the environment, but the content beyond the story such as invasion mode is extremely repetitive, not rewarding, and introduces burdensome mechanics like talismans and relics that don't do enough to justify their significance. Tower mode is there but doesn't offer anything different or new from the traditional experience.
The Kameo system offers some variation on character styles and combos but is really just an extra special move at the end of the day.
Online mode is fine if you enjoy the sweaty ranked 1vs1 matches or King of Hill mode, but there is nothing for casual players such as co-op challenges, tag, or other modes beyond hyper competitive play. Making online mode an exhausting and short lived experience.
The shop content is disappointing offering generic palette swapped costumes and premium shop also offers very little. The premium shop also hasn't been refreshed since launch which is an extreme blow to players who bought the premium edition and dragon krystals. Selling premium currency with nothing to spend it on. Predatory tactics with false advertising.
This game is 100% dependent on a patch to resolve the issues pointed out in this review or it most likely be considered an extremely disappointing release that will set the negative outlook on the future of Mortal Kombat. NRS can do much better and chose to release MK1 in this current state.
So, imagine a fighting that doesn`t punish spamming in block and has brocken **** characters like Sub Zero, Kenshi or Raiden. On top of that they sell you roster of just 22 characters for an AAA price.
The game is not bad, but the same type of blows in the plot is an absolute minus and a flaw. It feels like the game was made in a hurry, there is no atmosphere and love like in Mortal Kombat 11. A huge minus is my favorite character Sindel. How did she become Asian and, moreover, so not spectacular? Sindel was a damn alluring young lady, and she became a dummy.
It is an OK fighting game, but a huge step far away from Mortal Kombat spirit.
It is too woke, too cartoonish and too far from classic Mortal Kombat games that I can't stop feeling a little dissapointed every time I play it.Netherrealm knew what fans of MK wanted, they just decided to give SJWs what they want. I'm gonna wait for Tekken 8, i guess.
