With Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.0 and Phantom Liberty combined, the result is undeniable: this game is excellent. The original game is drastically improved, if not transformed, by the combination of the free 2.0 and paid Phantom Liberty additions. Meanwhile, Phantom Liberty itself is an all-time great expansion, taking all of the best elements of Cyberpunk 2077 and cranking them all up to eleven into an excellent stand-alone narrative in its own right. If Cyberpunk 2077 had released in this state, it might’ve been lauded as an instant classic, an all-time great - but the fact that this has arrived two years late shouldn’t detract too much from the strength of the experience.
Phantom Liberty is an excellent follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077's story. The expansion heavily benefits from coming at the best time the game is having right now thanks to a slew of technical and creative updates it received since launch, boasting new interesting additions to gameplay with the Relic system. Phantom Liberty introduces sensible and well-written characters that heavily impact V, while, at the same time, cement themselves as a few of the best characters on CDPR's game.
If you want to hate CDPR forever for the launch and review bomb still, that's your prerogative, but the DLC is fantastic and the update really brings the game where it should've been from the start. The overhauled combat is very fun, the game works as it should, the open world feels more immersive, the RPG elements are more pronounced, and everything just feels tighter and more polished. The DLC's story and side content are among the best content the game has to offer overall.
Cyberpunk 2077 was able to listen to critics and went to see a ripper doc to come out in a 2.0 version that is repaired, augmented, enhanced and completed with a brilliant Phantom Liberty expansion driven by an outstanding Idris Elba who does justice to Night City and its legends.
Phantom Liberty is everything we expected from a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, if not more. This techno-thriller immerses players in a gripping story that will have an unprecedented impact on the game universe. The ruined neighborhood of Dogtown is not to be outdone with its post-war atmosphere where the law of the strongest reigns supreme. master. Rich in content for around twenty hours of play, this DLC masterfully concludes V's dystopian epic in Night City.
Phantom Liberty is a fitting send off for V, Night City, and Cyberpunk 2077 as a whole. After a rocky launch, CD Projekt Red has delivered with an incredibly dense and impactful expansion to one of the medium's best cityscapes, even if the narrative choices on offer hold it back a smidge.
Phantom Liberty is a good expansion that adds an intriguing storyline filled with memorable characters and that, together with the 2.0 version, manages to also improve the gameplay, adding new features and changing existing ones that help Cyberpunk come closer to what we were promised years ago.
Great game.Best looking city in all games i have ever seen.
i love music and the story
its definetly worth trying.
and the price? for aprox 30 hours? and free 2.0 update that brings new quality? its game of the year.
3 years ago, after the horrible release of the main game, gamers were very supportive of CDPR and Cyberpunk 2077 despite being cheated. That's why I was expecting this DLC to be free, they released a game with promises they couldn't fulfill. Looking at the current state of Cyberpunk 2077, they will probably never fulfill those promises or they will continue to update it until 2077.
I waited until 2.0 to finally play CP2077. The first 20-30 hours are very enjoyable....after that, diminishing returns kick in. In my mind the open world does not offer enough interesting activities to carry it beyond that 30 hour mark. Where is the car tuning shop, which lets you spray paint your car in different colors and tune cars to your liking ? Why is the first person view inside cars still unusable for so many cars, with the car interior constantly obstructing the view onto the road (Rayfield Aerondight) and outside area ? Why are 90 % of the side missions still go there kill everything, read the email...mission complete ? Why do most enemies still feel like total pushovers, even on hard difficulty ? ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The enjoyment you get out of this game depends highly on what you expect from it. If you expect a linear story with the city simply as beautiful background for the story, then it's an 8/10. If you expect more than that, like an exploration focused open world where you find interesting stuff on every corner, like it is the case with games like Breath of the Wild/TOTK or RDR2/GTA5, then you will be slightly disappointed . ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ One aspect this game does exceptionally well is its presentation. This is the best looking videogame ever made, with and without pathtracing. And it runs surprisingly well on 4K with dlss and pathtracing turned on, constantly staying above 100 fps, at least on a 4090. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ PROS: + overall atmosphere and world building + fantastic car designs, silhouette wise + best looking game ever made + shooting mechanics feel rewarding with decent hit feedback + fun vehicle combat + more than 60 hours of content ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ CONS: - mostly empty open world -repetetive side mission structure - game lacks challenging enemies even on higher difficulties - small quality of life stuff: no flashlight or nightvision in darker areas, item filters in the inventory constantly resetting to default, no custom marker to place on the map for points of interest, first person car view almost unusable, cars turning into 2D textures in the far distance and the game crashes sometimes on start up ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Overall Rating 7.8/10
Cops are patrolling, but ignore crime. Criminals are literally holding civilians at Gun Point and the moment I kill them the Cops attack me instead? Also, just enter a building or camp a corner with a shotgun and the Cops will continue to run into the line of fire. I don't mind the extra combat, but it really ruins immersion.
