With its tight script, well-balanced characters, and bone-chilling scares, The Nun II is the first Conjuring spinoff operating at the same caliber as the franchise's core films, proving that this universe is far from played out.
If you’re expecting a totally original horror flick, you’ll be disappointed. If you’re looking for a film that cohesively fits into and helps explain the Conjuring universe, you should know better by now. But if you’re looking for nothing more and nothing less than a film where a barbaric nun slaughters everyone in its sight, well, look no further. Everyone else will be nun too pleased.

The result is a middle-of-the-table Conjuring universe film — one unlikely to make a dent in horror history, but well-constructed, with moments of inventive imagery, and that continues to cement Akela Cooper as a writer with a clear eye for freaky fun.
Reaching for meaning in The Nun II is as fruitful as a wander down a dark and dusty old hall. You’ll find things that go bump in the night but not much else underneath all the doom and gloom.
The Nun II might be a slight step up from the slog that was The Nun, but that’s a low bar to creep up from.
Logic, though, is not at the forefront of The Nun II which, like its predecessor, attempts to force the fear through endless jump scares and bombastic music rather than take time to build any real tension.
In neglecting to vary her routine, she is not unlike the film-makers behind this ninth visit to the Conjuring universe – although “universe” is a misleadingly large word for a franchise that is impoverished in all but its box-office gross.

I really enjoy the main actress in this film and have since seeing her in COVEN from AHS, but I'm not sure if I really liked this movie. It had moments that had me curiously intrigued but I wasn't sold on the plot. Comparably, the POPE'S EXORCIST had me completely enthused and I guess I felt that this film may also exhibit some curious revealings from a Catholic Church element. I understand this is meant to show some details toward the rest of the CONJURING franchise, and I am wondering how that will tie together - but I'm not convinced this was one I'll be watching again as a horror fan.

The plot of this movie is super previsible, throughout the movie I was saying for my partner who would die and survive and I got it right all my guesses.
Even the terror is super generic and cliche, always a terror scene in a dark room or empty corridor and most of them useless because they don't do anything for the plot.
Even the final battle is kinda ridiculous and how they defeat the devil.
Overall, I had a little fun but because I was literally laughing throughout the movie of how bad and previsible it was.
