Anyone review bombing any game by giving it a zero needs to grow up. Really wish Metacritic would verify people. Anything below an 8 for this expansion is absurd. The base game was great and this makes it even better.
Phantom Liberty is a fantastic expansion, with a great story, memorable characters, and quality side content, but the real reason you won't want to stop coming back to Night City is the 2.0 update.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty marks the end of the lengthy and dramatic story of Cyberpunk 2077. This expansion brilliantly highlights what fans were hoping for in the initial release, but seeing it finally realized showcases so much more. The themes explored through the new story and side-quests, along with the quality-of-life updates, provided a memorable conclusion to this cyberpunk adventure.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has done well within its existing framework, improving on the original Cyberpunk 2077 in a number of ways. The main story is seamlessly integrated into Night City, while the side quests offer more variety and choice than the original. The 2.0 update has improved several systems, addressing some of the issues with the original mechanics, improving the gameplay and giving players a more satisfying experience.
Phantom Liberty brings us an intricate police story full of action and great dialogues. You can feel the decadence of Dogtown in every step you take in this new district, and you will love to get lost in its winding streets. And believe me, with or without Phantom Liberty, it is worth coming back to Cyberpunk 2077 with the 2.0. version.
Phantom Liberty has some great moments, but it’s ultimately a by-the-numbers spy thriller with an uninteresting cast that can’t be saved by celebrity star power.
I'm enjoying the DLC so far, I think I've played for around four or five hours, and while I think it's really cool I am quite surprised by how many bugs are still in the game. It's nice that the police system now works properly, little things like climbing animations and water splashes are welcome BUT even within an hour of playing the DLC I noticed multiple issues. As soon as Songbird's voice actor mis-pronounces 'query' as 'quarry' I knew something was a little fishy. This happens very early on. After that I noticed frozen NPCs, stuck NPCs, glitches where half the screen goes black, moments where characters animations jump from one thing to another without smooth transitions amongst other things mostly all within the first hour or two. There's a great game and a great DLC in here but they just can't seem to iron out the game to a solid presentation state. FOR $90 TOTAL now this cr*p should work as intended!!! CDProjektRed, you are tripping if you think this is acceptable!!! STEP UP YOUR QUALITY CONTROL.
If you loved Cyberpunk 2077, as I did, (after the bugs were mostly fixed) then realize that patch 2.0 is not Cyberpunk 2077 anymore and is a big disappointment. CDPR pandered to players that didn’t like it and threw players that loved it under the bus. The new Perk system is terrible. Your loved builds are defunct. You are forced to take Perks you don’t want in 2.0. The system forces gameplay and destroys freedom, especially sacrificing Netrunning. Turns it into a boring First Person Shooter with no diversity. I wish I could get a refund for Phantom Liberty :(
Story is fun but the endings litterally ruin the DLC. I have encountered more game breakingbugs in the dlc it is insane (half the mission objectives just don't spawn the enemies they need to spawn). Finally the driving is still awful to the point that it harms other systems. For example when I lose control of the car and hit some one by accident and get a wanted level I now have to lose the cops because the driving in this game is like driving a stick of butter on a road covered in ice and baby oil.
