Assassin’s Creed Mirage didn’t lie to us. The new opus offers us a return to basics in due form, with an old-fashioned credo and modern mechanics à la Unity. A true melting pot - both in terms of approaches, NPCs and mechanics taken from previous ACs - Mirage is a call to almost limitless freedom. On the other hand, its old-fashioned gameplay, its small technical shortcomings and its very classic side risk leaving some behind. But fans of the license have with Mirage a gripping story, a pleasant breath of nostalgia and a new grandiose dive into great History. Yes, Basim's adventure does not reinvent the wheel, but it is an excellent way to wait for the next big game in the license, Assassin's Creed Codename Red.
Good Assassins Creed (finally) and a return to the roots... more or less. The only bad thing, the combat system, worst compared with Assassins Creed 4, 2 even and 1. The graphics, well, was pretty obvious that this game would not be a next gen game so it's fine.
Mirage is more of a tribute that a return to the classics, but the setting, the level design and the reasonable length are welcome changes to make Assassin’s Creed more enjoyable for the fans of the first games.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a triumphant return to the style of the original Assassin’s Creed games. It maintains some RPG elements such as upgrading equipment and learning abilities through skill points, but this is done on a smaller scale than the most recent predecessors. Mirage hits the sweet spot when it comes to game length, long enough to feel worthwhile but short enough where it never drags or feels bogged down by filler content.
Assassin's Creed Mirage is perfectly serviceable and will certainly scratch an itch for major fans - though it's arguably not a bad entry point for newcomers either.
1st - its an IPHONE game NOT a next gen, which I wish i knew before buying it
Feels more like remastered version of old PSP title than new generation game. It does constantly remind you the target platform was a phone... tokens to pay mercenaries? come on...
it actually is going to be realesed on iphone next year......
It is cheaper than nowadays AAA titles which says a lot and this is not an AAA title is what It feels.
There are many little things that are badly implemented and I cant understand....
horse speed in town is slower than walk - only benefit of horse is auto-travel when I want to go to toilet or have a shower
fast travel points seem to be always away from quest locations, artificially making game longer and more annoying to move around
combat is very, very poor even compared to old AC games. l1 to parry- r1 to kill enemy seems best option and enemies always do moves in rotations so you know what it gonna do next.
Stamina runs out quickly as well and could be completely removed as a mechanic.
not many armor sets and weapons in game. different sets bonuses are nothing special and upgrade is linear. Big downgrade even from AC Unity.... BIG....
cant use eagle most of time because of shooters - it adds extra challenge to kill shooter while infiltrating to be able to scout the area but completely annoying while free roaming
Skill tree is very simple and you dont feel like you powering your character at all.
worse story in all AC I've seen (havent played some standalone little games)
On plus side, game looks good visually and the sneaking part of the game is actually fun and chellenging.
City is small but complex and climbing is well implemented.
Can learn a lot of muslim history.
Probably free on ps plus or game pass next year - not worth full price
This would have been awesome, had it been done by the original AC team, the folks that brought us the brill AC1&2. Sadly, it feels like it was done by energy drink filled teenagers, who had only vague idea what the classic AC meant, but who were very keen to make the game very trendy, edgy and in with the Z-generation. The result is a embarrassing mess that just does not have the charm or atmosphere of the old skool AC games. If you are veteran AC fan like me, best avoid this.
