On first listen, this isn’t his certified rap classic but it does signal a turning point. Now, if only Drake could could distill the best parts of his repertoire into a coherent whole.

For All the Dogs caps off a recent persona that sounds like none of it’s fun to him—and he’s dragging us along to be the company of his misery.

This tension leaves For All the Dogs in a strange limbo: its highs are higher than many recent Drake records, and its lows are far lower.

It might not be the worst Drake album, but it's in the conversation for sure.
  5. 40
On tracks such as “Daylight” and “Fear of Heights”, he strains to fit over the futuristic “rage” sound popularised by Playboi Carti. For better or worse, the album is at its best when Drake’s not there.
  6. For All The Dogs- his third solo LP in as many years – not only feels tiring, but sounds tired too.

But for the most part, For All the Dogs lives up to its title. In short: woof.
