Lords of the Fallen succeeds in everything it tries. This may be a blood-filled trip but Mournstead, through its magical dual world, always calls us back for a last mortal dance.
To sum it up, Lords of the Fallen turned out to be an excellent entry into the soulslike genre, cleverly combining trusty mechanics from other projects while maintaining its own identity. The game offers a unique challenge due to its complexity but at the same time doesn’t forget about the newcomers, giving them ample time to adapt.
Don't believe all the bad reviews! I've Platinumed all 3 Dark Souls games and Demons Souls, plus played a ton of Bloodbourne and Elden Ring, so i know a bit about soulslike games. Lords of the Fallen is a good game. give it a chance. the whole dual world 'umbral' thing is really cool, (gives you one free death!) if you've played souls games, you won't find the enemies too hard. there are plenty of 'bonfires' and shortcuts.
I don't like how jumping is crazy aggravating! And there are a lot of ranged casters, which are annoying, but play a class with ranged capability and you'll do fine. take out casters first, then the melee mobs.
i really like this game. :)
As fun as Dark Souls 3, but with much better graphics! Umbral is terrifying, you can literally feel the eyes of the dead watching you, eager to tear your soul apart. Beksinski’s arts visibly were inspiring the game makers, which is brilliant. All in all a must have for souls like fans!
Lords of the Fallen is a great soulslike, and its killer new idea of swapping between two versions of the world to solve puzzles and slay enemies is an excellent twist to set it apart from the pack. That concept is unfortunately hamstrung by numerous, highly annoying technical issues and weak boss fights, but awesome explorable areas and fantastic buildcrafting more than make up for those shortcomings. If, like me, you’re a sucker for a quality action-RPG even amid a clear overabundance of them, then this reboot is well worth your time.
I remember reviewing Code Vein in 2019. Dark Souls had inspired that game in very wrong ways and in turn it had made me swear off reviewing Soulslikes not made by From Software for the some time. Saying Lords of the Fallen did the same would be unfair but that doesn’t mean I don’t have some harsh words for the developers…
Lords of the Fallen boasts impressive visuals and an interesting story for a soulslike, but unfortunately, that's where the praise ends. Despite functional gameplay and a well-designed world, the experience is marred by frustrating combat mechanics, subpar enemy placement, and an overall lack of polish, making it one of the most frustrating soulslikes ever released.
I desperately want to like Lords of the Fallen, but it's the first game all year that's actively annoyed me. I love the Soulslike genre more than any other, but this game took all of the lessons it could have learned since the original Lords of the Fallen and either forgot them entirely, or just misunderstood them so greviously that you'd assume it skipped a class.
Lords of the Fallen is enough to tide you over until the next Souls like and it has some arresting sights, but it lacks a focus of its own.
TGG – 6.5 / 10
AUDIO 7/10
It’s your standard blasts of orchestra, mixed with your standard eerie, brooding bits.
VISUALS 7/10
Unreal Engine 5 offers some handsome vistas, and it all runs at a smooth frame rate, but the visuals lack character.
PLAYABILITY 6/10
The combat is all you would expect, and not an awful lot more. But it has some nice environmental and traversal puzzles.
DELIVERY 6/10
A thirty-hour adventure, relatively absent of bugs at launch, after a couple of patches.
This game has enormous potential to be something great. Aside from performance problems which I have been patiently dealing with on my Steam Deck, I find that the boss difficult itself isn’t super hard per say, but due too the amount of hit points mixed with the lag, makes this game daunting. It’s so bad that I’m almost at the point of quitting and moving on to something else, and I’m only on the second boss. I feel like I’m fighting forever. I constantly beat on the boss and do hardly any damage. That mixed with the performance issues make it brutal. I think I fought Pieta about 50 time before I won.
I just finished Lies of P (beating the hidden end boss), and even though some bosses were brutal, I never thought about quitting.
All I play are souls-likes for the most part. From experience, I think this game needs some adjustments. Either adjust boss hit points or make weapons scale better. In this state I think the game is going to waste.
mecanica nueva del otro mundo muy fea y sin sentido le corta el dinamismo del juego andar con una **** siente poco gratificante el movimiento del personaje.
