The newest versions of Spider-Man and Venom finally come face-to-face -- violently.
Miles Morales' Spider-Man is finally meeting Dylan Brock's version of Venom in Marvel's newly revealed variant cover for Giant-Size Spider-Man #1. though the encounter seemingly won't be amicable. Giant-Size Spider-Man #1 is the first issue in a new volume of the classic Marvel series, with the intention being to celebrate the history of the Marvel Universe and its current developments. This includes a showdown between the latest takes on the Web-Slinger and the Lethal Protector, who've so far yet to be properly introduced. Given the cover image by Jeehyung Lee (which sees Miles powering up his electrical powers against a titanic Venom), however, this meet-and-greet will see the young hero and antihero come to blows with each other. Given the design that Venom bears, it seems that Dylan has taken on a more monstrous persona thanks to the symbiote.

The issue's new storyline featuring the fight between Spider-Man and Venom is written by Cody Ziglar (current scribe of the Miles Morales: Spider-Man series, with Iban Coello (who broke through via the title Marvel Stormbreaker) as the artist. Aside from the aforementioned variant cover by Jeehyung Lee, the comic's main cover is being done by Bryan Hitch. There will also be a "Deadliest Foes" variant cover by Dave Bardin.
Ziglar expressed his excitement about the upcoming comic, "In a series where I've had the luck to do a lot of firsts, I'm so stoked that I'm able to add Miles and Dylan's first interaction with each other to that list,” he said. “I look forward to readers seeing Iban's incredible work in another action-packed book featuring everyone's favorite Brooklyn-based Spider-Man" the writer added.
Beyond the new material, Giant-Size Spider-Man #1 also takes a look back at Miles' history, namely his fight with another version of Venom. The issue reprints material from Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #22 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, which saw Miles fight the Ultimate Universe Venom. That took place in the original version of the alternate timeline, which has now been rebooted in a new Ultimate Universe. This will see the release of a new Ultimate Spider-Man book, though it stars a married father version of Peter Parker instead of Miles.
Giant-Size Spider-Man #1 releases on January 10, 2024.
