More than just a Soulslike with a protagonist to serve as eye-candy, Stellar Blade has far surpassed our expectations, offering varied gameplay, outstanding visuals, a sublime soundtrack and an engaging story. It's a must-play for action game fans.
Stellar Blade recalls the classic era of character-action games in truly inspired fashion. It might struggle to deliver on its core narrative, and its platforming is often more frustrating than it isn't, but neither of those things are enough to bring down a thoroughly enjoyable action experience. It wears its inspirations on its sleeve, but manages to build on them in engaging fashion with a deliciously layered combat system and gorgeous presentation to boot.
Great combat, great skill tree design, badass boss music and a pleasant combo linking system. it feels like a mobile game on steroids but that doesn’t mean is not enjoyable to play. This only marks the big step up that SHIFT UP will have on their next games. Remember, this is the first big video game for a company that made mobile games. You can say that is a playground for what Stellar Blade 2 needs work on.
Stellar Blade has great merit when we see it from a production point of view and as Shift Up's letter of introduction to the international market. As an exclusive to the PlayStation 5, it lets us see that the industry is willing to expand and show us the AAA proposals that other regions have for us. Despite its positive points, the title offers us a generic story and gameplay mechanics that lack depth, although the presentation and production levels are impressive.
I mostly had a great time with Stellar Blade with its combat being the real star of the show. Although exploration doesn't offer much exciting, it's still a worthwhile action adventure game that you're sure to have a lot of fun with.
Stellar Blade has landed a critical hit, successfully slicing through the crowd of well-established action-adventure game giants. If you’re a fan of sleek and stylish combat, with sprinklings of Soulsborne and Nier Automata vibes, you’ll feel right at home when playing Shift Up’s triumphant console debut.
Stellar Blade is a good game. It’s not unforgettable but what it does it does well!
Its gameplay is neat, with an in-depth combat system and the encounters with the bosses are intense, probably a little too much in the last part of the game because they are poorly balanced in terms of difficulty. In addition, it is visually very impressive and offers an extremely attractive universe that we enjoy exploring, even if its story is classic. A very demanding Soul’s Like experience, in which we take pleasure in suffering.
Picked this game up and am loving it. Feels very much like a Souls game, but with a more "feminine"touch. Everything from the MC who is a self insert dress-up doll, to the relaxing " shopping music", to the hunky male love interest/sidekick, to the bubbly girl pal, this game feels almost like it's aimed at women, but the gameplay is still "gamery" and exciting enough to appeal to a male player. Critics slamming this game for the sexy are missing a lot of subtle things that feel tailor-made to appeal to female players. All-in-all, I'm thoroughly enjoying the game. Definitely would recommend to any but the most hardcore gamer, who might find the game to be not as challenging as they're used to.
Definitely great first attempt. The gameplay is engaging and satisfactory and REALLY stylish, thanks to some great attacks animations. Good worldbuilding and level art but not the best. The customization of EVE is good enough, but could be better. With multiple layers for outfit and stuff. Music is decent but quite repetitive. However the game have a major flaw in movement and platforming. The gameplay became a little too repetitive because there is a lack of variety in the combat loop. Facial animations are quite stiff and some part of the story are neither compelling nor funny. And while the visual design of the characters are extremely well done, their personality is a bit shallow and lifeless. Same with NPC and their side mission. Overall I'll say is a flawed but still quite good game. Really great first entry for a new IP that can became something important like DMC or Bayonetta in the future.
Stellar Blade is a game known for its combat mechanics and captivating soundtrack, but it needs to improve in other areas.
The storyline is forgettable, and the characters are unremarkable. The protagonist, EVE, is more of an eye candy than a fully fleshed-out character. The game makes feeling emotionally engaged in supposedly serious narrative moments difficult. Exploration feels tedious due to the uninspired level of design and rehashed enemies, which need more depth and intrigue than similar games like Nier.
While Stellar Blade is visually stunning, it severely lacks substance, forcing players to wade through mediocrity to experience fleeting moments of combat brilliance.
