And it's a corker. Even with the future of the Earth at stake, there's still plenty of the Doctor's joky humour, some nice Christmas gags and even a touching romance.

At the end of the last series we saw the Doctor (David Tennant) looking more than a little startled as the Titanic came crashing through the walls of the Tardis.

Ah, but now it turns out that it isn't THAT Titanic.

This one's an intergalactic luxury cruise ship offering jaunts to primitive worlds, including Earth, and is named after our most famous liner.

As he didn't have any other plans for Christmas, the Doctor hops aboard where he immediately makes a big impression on a waitress called Astrid (Kylie), who asks him: "Do you travel a lot?"

Forget icebergs, this Titanic is hit by a meteor shower that decimates the passenger list. In this disaster movie in space, a band of scary robotic angels seem hell-bent on finishing off the few survivors (who include Bernard Cribbins and Gray O'Brien, aka Tony from Corrie).

If you've got young children watching be warned that the death and destruction rate is alarmingly high. And much as we'd love to see Astrid as the Doctor's next companion, nobody is safe.
