What is Network54?

Network54 is a Community Application Service Provider. We provide hosted applications that web site owners incorporate into their sites to help them create and foster a topical Internet community.

What do you mean by "topical Internet community"?

To us, "topical Internet community" is the formation and benefit of interpersonal relationships that are created by people who share common interests, ideals, and goals. You provide the topic and we provide the communications tools to build the relationships.

How do I get started?

If you're new to Network54, you can get started right away by creating your own Network54 account. With your account you'll be able to automically create and customize your own community resources (forums, chatrooms, etc.).

How do I add Network54 forums and chatrooms to my web site?

Once you've created something at Network54, you'll be able to link to it directly from your web site. By matching the style of your Network54 resources to your site, you're creating a seamless transition from your site to your resources at Network54.

Isn't it better to run custom community scripts on my own server?
|

This is not necessarily true. First, there issues of actually installing scripts on your server and getting them to work properly, and most fully featured scripts will cost you money. Second, running a large community on your own site can be an expensive proposition, because you'll need to worry about bandwidth costs and the costs of your own servers (or your ISP's) to handle a rapidly growing community - note that very large communities can generate over 50GB (50 gigabytes, or 500 gigabits) of traffic each month. Third, we handle all of the maintainence on our site, so you'll never need to worry about upgrades or keeping things running smoothly.
