Men's Golf Championship
CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD won its first California Collegiate Athleic
Association Men's Golf Championship by 10 strokes over runner-up CAL
STATE STANISLAUS at Hunter Ranch Golf Club on Tuesday. Stanislaus
was led by individual champion Marc Lawless, who won the tournament
and earned CCAA Golfer of the Year honors. Bakersfield coach Bill
Faeth was named CCAA Coach of the Year.

Apr 2 -- Cal State Bakersfield Takes Lead
in 2001 CCAA Championship after Two Rounds
Four CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD men's golfers finished within the top 10
places to give the tournament host Roadrunners a seven-stroke
advantage over CAL STATE STANISLAUS after two rounds of the 2001
California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship at Hunter
Ranch Golf Club on Monday. CAL STATE STANISLAUS' Marc Lawless
managed the only score under par (-1) to lead all players of both
the CCAA Championship and the NCAA District VIII Qualifiers, which
is being held simultaneously.

Contrary to the meteorologist phrase describing weather patterns,
California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) teams and
student-athletes marched into March with a lamb cry and exited with
a lions roar. CAL POLY POMONA and CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD won
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II
Championships in womens basketball and mens swimming &
diving, and a host of student-athletes claimed individual national
championships in swimming & diving and indoor track & field.

place on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona Friday, April 20 through
Sunday, April 22. The top eight squads at the conclusion of the
regular season qualify for the event.

Mar 24 -- Cal Poly Pomona Wins National
Title in Women's Basketball
CCAA is the Division II home of champions, and just added another
as the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona added to the national titles held
by CCAA member schools. Saturday Pomona won the 2001 Women's
Basketball Division II National Championship by defeating North
Dakota 87-80 in overtime at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, MN.
Aprile Powell provided the spark that allowed Pomona to win their
fourth national title. |
Mar 17 -- Cal State Bakersfield Claims
Another Men's National Swimming Championship
The Roadrunners of Cal State Bakersfield were the winners of a
second consecutive men's swimming championship as they claimed the
title in competition held at the Branin Natatorium in Canton, OH. |
