FAQ Question #17

» How do I retrieve a forgotten username or password?

If you have forgotten your LiveJournal username or password, you may be able to retrieve it by following the instructions at http://www.livejournal.com/lostinfo.bml.

In order to protect the security of your journal, lost passwords can only be sent to the e-mail address currently listed in your Personal Information, or an e-mail address which was previously validated for your account. Lost usernames can only be sent to the address currently listed in your Personal Information.

The username and password retrieval system is entirely automated. LiveJournal staff and volunteers cannot access your username or password and send it to you. If you no longer have access to an e-mail address which is authorized to receive this information, then you will not be able to regain access to your LiveJournal account. In this situation, you may wish to create a new journal.

If you know your username and password but no longer have access to a currently listed or previously validated e-mail address, you should update and validate your e-mail address immediately.
