Stunningly gory new red-band trailer for Evil Dead: watch now

Not for the faint of heart

Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead remake has released a new red-band trailer online, and it might just be the goriest, grimiest teaser we’ve ever seen.

Producers Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi have long been promising a new take on the film that would tap into the down and dirty origins of the first film, but even with that in mind, we weren’t expecting anything quite this extreme.

Vomiting blood, knives slicing through tongues, chainsaws ploughing through limbs… it’s all here for your grisly delectation. As you might have guessed, it’s not particularly safe for work!

Take a look below…

Pretty full-on stuff, then. However, amid all the gore, its pleasing to notice many key elements of the original films popping up for another go-around, including the body in the cellar, the evil tree and the prodigious use of power tools…

Directed by Alvarez and co-starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Jessica Lucas, Evil Dead opens in the UK on 19 April 2013, promising to be “the most terrifying film you will ever experience…”

What do you think of the new trailer? Tell us, below!

I appreciate that there is a market for very bloody films out there, but this seems a bit dated now. I think Eli Roth and the Saw saga destroyed that sub-genre. I've never been a fan of it personally as it's a bit too full on. The best horror film for me is Seven (sorry Se7en) as you see nothing, just the aftermath and your brain has to put the pieces together. But hey, each to their own! Give me Universal black and white monster films any day :)

Whilst it may seem like heresy to remake a film like the Evil Dead I think that this one is looking intetesting. I'm hoping for a remake as good as 2004's Dawn of the Dead. Mind you I've been burned before with the likes of The Omen and...said with a cold shudder...The Fog!!! But I must say the girls eyes in the still above is giving me the creeps already.

My favourite of the Evil Dead films was easily the second one, with its fantastic mixture of both horror, and outright slapstick comedy. From what this trailer shows, there seems to be a distinct lack of any sense of humour whatsoever. It just looks like it is going to be gory for the sake of being gory...where is the fun?

The original film was not meant meant to be comedic. I think this film will be kinda good.

I agree jamieTSB doesn't look much fun and evil dead 2 was and still is one of the greats had the lot. can't see this movie being half as fun or half as quotable as ED2. I mean you can't top Bruce Campbell with a chain saw on one arm and a sawn off shotgun in the other complete bad a*s , GROOVY.

People need to stop comparing this to Evil Dead 2 its a remake of the first Evil Dead and its trying to do something different within the base parameter of the originals concept what what be the point of just remaking it will Bruce and it being exactly the same you might as well just go watch the original ...which you still can so give this a chance

Yeah pretty gory, in fact surprised they got away with it but to be fair, I'm glad they did. Although ED2 was a classic ..... Actually it's just a classic trilogy really ED 2 was on last night and its good, very dated but it was great for then, but I have a feeling it's gonna be funny too! ED 2 was spooky and funny and I get the sense this will contain some of that. In all honesty the trailer does interest me, which is odd cos the gory ones I find quite dull, psychological horror is the true horror because it can be whatever scares the watcher! Though hostel, final destinations and most of the saws were s**t actually, I'll give this a go XMX

How's it going to end in the remake? Surely it can't lead to the same path as original did to evil dead 2?

was generally quite impressed by this trailer, very intense, i think this will be a good film. as a remake, it clearly repeats a number of ideas from the original trilogy, so not original, but still very promising.
