David Pilling, Asia Editor

Based in Hong Kong, David Pilling was appointed Asia Editor of the Financial Times in September 2008. David oversees the FT’s editorial operations in Asia and also writes a weekly column on the region’s business, economics, politics and social issues. He regularly moderates panel discussions on Asia-related themes at international conferences, including the FT’s own and at events organized by the World Economic Forum and the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation forum (APEC).

Demetri Sevastopulo, Asia News Editor

Demetri is responsible for the FT news gathering operation across the Asia Pacific region, and for the presentation of Asian news in all global editions of the newspaper and on FT.com. He was previously Pentagon and Intelligence Correspondent based in Washington.

Paul J Davies, Asia Financial Correspondent

Based in Hong Kong, Paul J Davies is Asia Financial Correspondent, covering mergers & acquisitions and financial stories in Asia. He has held a variety of roles at the FT in London over the past 12 years. Most recently he spent two and a half years as the Insurance Correspondent.

Rahul Jacob, South China Correspondent

Rahul Jacob was appointed South China Correspondent of the Financial Times in 2010. Based in Hong Kong, he reports economic and business issues in Hong Kong and southern China. Prior to this, Rahul was based in London as travel, food and drink editor on the FT Weekend. He was the FT’s Hong Kong Bureau chief between 1998 and 2003.

Jeremy Grant, Asia Regional Corporate Correspondent

Jeremy Grant was appointed the Asia Regional Corporate Correspondent by the Financial Times based in Singapore in May 2012.  He covers Singapore, Malaysia, financial and business news and analysis from across South East Asia in conjunction with the FT’s correspondents based in the region.

Jamil Anderlini, Beijing Bureau Chief

Jamil is the Beijing Bureau Chief and covers China macroeconomics, financial issues, companies, markets and politics. He was named the Society of Publishers in Asia Journalist of the Year for 2010.

 

Leslie Hook, Beijing Correspondent

Leslie Hook is Beijing Correspondent for the Financial Times covering energy, commodities and the environment.

 

Kathrin Hille, Beijing Correspodent

Kathrin Hille is Beijing Correspondent for the Financial Times covering technology, telecoms, the internet, media, defence and cross-Strait issues.

 

Simon Rabinovitch, Beijing Correspondent

Simon Rabinovitch is Beijing Correspondent with the Financial Times, covering Chinese finance and economics.

 

Patti Waldmeir, Shanghai Correspondent

Patti Waldmeir is the Financial Times Shanghai Correspondent covering retail, cars and luxury issues. Patti has been with the FT for 28 years, she was previously a columnist for the FT in America, a US leader writer and US Editor of the FT.

Sarah Mishkin, Taiwan Correspondent

Sarah Mishkin was appointed Taiwan Correspondent for the Financial Times in June 2012. She covers Taiwan economy, politics and business.

 

Michiyo Nakamoto, Tokyo Deputy Bureau Chief

Michiyo Nakamoto is Deputy Bureau Chief of the Financial Times in Tokyo. Her current coverage includes the financial services sector, financial regulation, retail, airlines, pharma, food and consumer products. In previous roles she has covered Japanese industry, particularly the auto and electronics sectors, Japanese politics and foreign relations.

Jonathan Soble, Tokyo Correspondent

Jonathan Soble was appointed Tokyo bureau chief for the Financial Times in Jan 2013. In addition to covering Japanese economics, politics, defence and foreign policy, Jonathan oversees all the FT’s Japan coverage. He is a fluent Japanese speaker.

 

Ben McLannahan, Tokyo Correspondent

Ben McLannahan is Tokyo Correspondent for the Financial Times. He covers Japanese market, including commodities and trading companies’ business, and also writes on economic issues. He was previously the FT’s  Lex writer in Asia, covering a range of different sectors including media, oil, hedge funds and credit markets.

Simon Mundy, Seoul Bureau Chief

Simon Mundy was appointed our Seoul bureau chief in 2012. He is responsible for covering all facets of South Korea and North Korea, from economics and politics to business and finance. He was previously a companies reporter in London, covering technology, telecoms and UK financial companies.

 

Victor Mallet, South Asia Bureau Chief

Victor Mallet is the Financial Times’ South Asia bureau chief, based in New Delhi. He covers India’s economy, politics and foreign relations. He is also responsible for overseeing our coverage of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Prior to this role, he spent four years as Madrid bureau chief, and before that he was the editor of the FT’s Asia edition.

 

 

James Crabtree, Mumbai Correspondent

James Crabtree was appointed Mumbai Correspondent by the Financial Times in November 2011. He covers Indian corporate news and social and political trends in the country’s financial capital. James joined the FT in 2010 and was previously the Comment Editor based in London.

 

Ben Bland, Indonesia Correspondent

Ben Bland was appointed as the FT’s Indonesia Correspondent in May 2012. Based in Jakarta, he covers economics, business, politics and other breaking news stories.

 

Neil Hume, Australia Correspondent

Neil Hume is the Financial Times Australia Correspondent, covering Australia’s economy and politics as well as market and corporate news. He joined the FT as Senior Stock Markets Correspondent in 2006. Neil helped found FT Alphaville, the FT’s award-winning markets blog.
