Finding a job

How can you use Financial Times Jobs to home in on jobs of particular interest to you from the hundreds of advertised roles? We have three main options to help you:-

  • Browse Jobs
  • Quick Search
  • Advanced Search

Browse jobs lets you page through the currently available opportunities by category, with sections covering profession/functional role, business type and also special focus areas. Special focus categories let you browse through some popular FT job segments, such as business leaders, Middle East or MBA jobs.

Click to expand the listings where indicated to see all the browseable pages under each heading. There are up to three levels under each main category, to let you drill down.

Quick Search is available from the home and other key pages on the site. Enter key terms that describe the job you’re looking for – eg project finance UK – and, optionally, pick the salary level range using the dropdown boxes. To give you the best results, our quick search function looks for your search words both within the job description and within the standardised criteria used to categorise jobs.

Advanced Search lets you be even more specific and really fine tune the criteria by which you are evaluating ads as meeting your needs for your next role. You can pick from salary, location, business / organisation type, profession/functional role, job type and language options, as well as adding keywords to fine tune your search. Keyword options include any word, all word or exact phrase choices.

Name and save your advanced searches so that you can run them (from My Account) whenever you choose, and also receive daily email alerts with the latest job matches meeting your search criteria.

While you’re viewing search results or browsing jobs on sector pages, you can save any of the jobs you see to your jobs shortlist for later viewing. Make sure you save your shortlist before you leave the site, so that you can go back to it at any time.

And a key tip: make sure that you make applications to jobs of interest promptly. The jobs advertised on Financial Times Jobs turn over very quickly, usually within a week or two. We will try to warn you when jobs you’ve saved are about to expire (in My Account), but if an advertiser takes down a job early because of good response, this isn’t possible.
