Josh Owen, professor and director, industrial design, has his SOS Stool designed for Casamania featured in Kanal-Centre Pompidou’s exhibition titled, “Red and White.” The exhibition, displayed at the Citroën garage in Brussels, commemorates major moments in design history from the 1960s to the present. The exhibition runs through the end of 2018.


Josh Owen,

professor and chair of industrial design, received a European Product Design Award Honorable Mention in the 2017 Home Interior Products (Professional) category for his Torq nutcracker (designed for OTHR). The honor marked the third design award for the 3D-printed creation.




Josh Owen,

professor and chair, industrial design, School of Design, won a 2017 Good Design Award for his Torq nutcracker (designed for OTHR) from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Founded in Chicago in 1950, the award is widely recognized as the oldest and most prestigious program for design excellence worldwide. Owen’s product now joins the museum’s Permanent Design Collection.
