I'm actually waiting to see if they'll do a dub on this one. I normally prefer subs to dubs, but the dubbed version of the first season was the one I saw due to some odd circumstance, and yesterday it was a bit of a disconnect, hearing other voices come out of the characters' mouths.

The second season of Kuma is good so far and episode 5 in particular was a fun ride. Trying to harvest the black tiger resulted in a relatively simple sounding quest that got more complex every step they took.

You know, one thing Kuma does really well is having a good balance between action, comedy and cute moments. Another thing that it does well is make the most out of the okay animation by making it look like a charming fairytale. It is a rather large contrast compared to say by the grace of the gods 2 which felt boring and stale..

Only one episode left and everything seems very peaceful and happy, which can only mean that those dumb nobles will probably do something stupid. The season has pleasantly surprised me in how it is just as good as the first season, which is anything but standard when it comes to isekai anime.

It has ended up as a wall of my posts here, but I hope that can be forgiven. The last episode of Kuma season 2 just came out and it ended as charming as it started. Both seasons offer a fun mix of action, humor and cute interactions....plus lots of bears. The second season ended up just as good as the first one and the the vibrant fairytale like visuals work in its favor. If anyone wants a solid cute isekai, Kuma is a recommendation.

going have to go through and binge watch the second season now that the final episode has aired this season. It is still a pretty good show and still holds the magic it held in the first season. Hope there will be a third.

It is missing one little thing to me though. She was brought to the world by a "power" or goddess or something. Initially, it seemed like it was meant to be a sort of a lesson for her, but there has been precious little contact with the powers that be. The story could have used a proper check in - someone to ask if she's happy, whether she'd like to go home or stay. Sure, we know the answer, but Yuna is a little different than other Isekai'd heroes. She was, apparently, never killed, she should, presumably, be able to go- and if she did go home, she'd be able to live a happier life, connect with her parents or find other tru friends in the "real world"

If you take it "as-is" though. It certainly a fun a healing tale of good people being rewarded and bad people punished.

Sorry I left you hanging. I've been watching the dubbed version, and I'm still waiting to see how it ends. I mentioned this before (Not sure where) but I'm less inclined to post on sequel seasons of shows that I like just fine unless the shows really ramp it up or totally blow it. When second seasons are pretty painless with no surprises, I mostly focus on new stuff. Don't know why.

I felt like season 1 had a little more edge for some reason - not that it was an edgy show mind you - and it might be fore the reasons just stated above me. But I enjoyed the show just like I enjoyed Bofuri season 2 and By the Grace of the Gods 2, and I am s till enjoying Moon Over You 2. I'd be cool with a third season of any of them.

I get that, with many shows season 2 is just more of the same, thus discussion is less exciting. Kuma just clicked for me though, I like it enough to keep discussing it, even though it is more quality and content wise. Plus that some bad isekai this season made Kuma look even better than it is in comparison.

Season 2, Episode 12 (finale)

I went into the episode ready to complain about the series in general, but I kind of the enjoyed the angry Yuna we saw in this episode, with her really taking things serious. So it kind of left a sort of good impression at the end.

But in general, I was kind of growing bored with the show in the earlier. It kind of had a few bits I remember like her quest to get mithril, but otherwise it felt rather a lack of an impression. And it isn't a case of maybe my sort of good impression at the end that maybe I wanted angry Yuna all the time, that would actually be pretty bad for a more happy series. I would otherwise say that I kind of thought that there was an overall lack of direction of going beyond cute.

I would have thought that probably the best thing to really do in a sequel would be to go back to the start, either by what force brought her to the world or what the core part of her character was. And by the core part of her character, it isn't that she has the whole bear motif, it is that she is a gamer, I remember at the start that it was what drove her. I would even say it connects to the more memorable part of the season with the mithril, because her interest was piqued there due to the association of mithril being desirable stuff in games. They could have kept some of the cute bear stuff, but she was the most interesting when she was being the quirky one in thinking in terms of gamer.

Her being forced out of her bear armour to go to the party, kind of seems like it should have been the bigger deal where she doesn't get to hide behind her max stats character loadout, and she was just a young lady being made to attend a social event. I want to say more, but honestly I am just kind of drawing blanks of what else happened this season, but I think there was something about needing to escort new adventurers that outside of her power level should have been her peers.

My rating for the season will be So-so (5/10), it didn't really grab my attention.
